Spoiler removal

I want to remove my spoiler - it's cracked (JB Weld only worked on that urethane junk for a couple months).

Do I need to mod anything underneath so it looks decent & doesn't leak? I assume I'll have to paint the hatch?

My car is a '91 Formula (wrap-around style spoiler) - anyone have any pics of what a 91-92 Firebird looks like w/o a spoiler? I like the look with the spoiler, but I can't afford the $400 now and just want it to look decent for now.

Thanks!

Save yourself some trouble, and go to the salvage yard and find a car (Camaro or Firebird, doesn't matter) that didn't have a factory spoiler. Its easy enough to unbolt, and pull loose from the urethane sealer. Either way you're going to have to paint, and your original would need holes filled and possibly rust repair, too, where the spoiler traps moisture under it.
