Here's one, which came stock in my 85 IROC. It didn't keep time well until I removed it, shot it out with canned air, then doused it with WD-40 and manipulated the hands several times. It's been working well now for several years.

To answer your question WalkerZ28, the wires and connector were already under the console even though mine didn't come with the option. So, it was basically a "plug-in".
And the writing on the bottom says "Camaro Quartz".
Hey Jim85IROC - The first clock I installed looked like yours with a red second hand. The one I have now has a white second hand. I figure since you're "hoarding", you may know why their different?? I know it's an irrelavant question, but just curious...
BTW - around here, I see them all the time in the junkyard, and they go for around 5 bucks apiece!!
soem one put a cup holder there on my car looks liek they cut a hole and then used a house sterio speaker port and put it doun in the hole doesnt look that bad i guess. ill take soem pics when i get teh chance too.

I've never seen one with a white 2nd hand. Very interresting.
Of course, I've never seen one with a "red" second hand too. All the ones I've seen are all a faded orange type of color, and all of the ones I've bought have been warped to the point where the end of the 2nd hand is touching, or very close to touching, the plastic lense. In my attempts to straighten them out, I've managed to break 2 and melt 1.
Just thought I'd throw in a quick pic for yall, it took some good polishing to get the lense that clear, it looked like yellow milk before... he he....

bingo
it definatley works great! hah no more holding

Supposed to be the rear deck lid latch. It only rocks one way. Also it won't allow you to open it while the car's in gear.
I've never seen mine work. It was busted when I got the car. The whole solinoid whatever ma-jiggy thing on the rear latch is all fubarred. I got bigger fish to fry on the car before I worry about fixing it.

Recently I bought a clock off a guy with the white second hand you mention. The clock in my '85 was that orangey color so I asked the guy about it and he said that the one he sold me was from an '82 parts car but that the one in his other '82 is the same way. He thought they were just sunbleached. Hmmmm, the plot thickens. I did notice the part # on the back is the same on both my clocks.

I'd be interested in buying one. Gotta have another spare since it's the only thing that makes my car rare (at least a little bit ).
The relay, if I'm not mistaken, is in the console. If that's the problem the swap-out is a piece of cake. You might try cleaning the contacts at the rear of the hatch before replacing anything.

I have one in my 1992 - I just loved the fact that there is actually a clock that has Camaro printed on it, and was a factory piece. I mounted it in a project box under the center vents. Took green EL wire and wrapped around the face in the box, so it gets illuminated much better than it ever did stock. I've since added a Camaro nameplate below it - one of the badges I guess it is - painted with green letters. (the green is because my car is painted HOK Kandy Teal green & I also have green LED's shining in the footwells front and back, green LED in the center console, green guage lights, etc. tying the outside to the inside)
Mine has a red second hand - but it's because I added one - the original was broke, and I replaced with a second hand from a clock kit at the art supply store.
I installed console clocks in my 86 iroc and in my 89 iroc vert.IMHO one of the coolest options offered on a third gen camaro.I think I have about 5 more as spares

that is a perfect location I'm not sure if I'm digging the box you built but the clock is in the perfect location. I think they seem kind of inconvenient in the console as it wouldn't be very easy to glance at while driving. Pretty cool though I didn't even know they had something like this until I read this thread.
