I tracked down one of these spoilers around the first of the year. Lost track of the guy. Found him tonight and he agreed to sell it to me, but emailed awhile later and backed out.
I was thinking .... not long ago someone (I think Hawks?) made the 5" camaro spoiler and began selling it. i'm wondering if Hawks or someone else would be interested in producing them if there was enough interest on here? If so, I could try and convince him to let us use it long enough for a mold to be made from it.

I also have a Bandit II hood. i've decided not to use it and was going to sell it, but maybe it'd be better to see if someone wants to produce it. it's just a bolt-on, non-functional scoop. it could easily be made functional, though. This isn't a pic of my actual hood, but it shows what it looks like.
i like the 2nd gen style spoiler concept, but don't think that spoiler really does the original justice. I'm considering modifying an actual 2nd gen spoiler to fit, but it will take a lot of work and i won't be attacking this until I get all the mechanical parts of my project done. In any case, I ran into one of these spoilers at a junkyard today. Unfortunately, the bottom part that hangs down in the back was rotting pretty bad. In fact, about half of that lip was gone. I would love to help the cause and send one to a company for reproduction, but don't think this one would be sufficient.

hey sean. Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera. I'm thinking about investing in one though because it sure would help with using this message board. I'll ask around and see if i can borrow one since i plan on going back to the same yard this week. It is pretty rough though. It appears that it's made of the same rubber material as the wrap-around spoilers and most of us know how they get with age. I know i've seen another one on a bird around here with no plates parked at a gas station. I may try to look for that one again since it looks like a much better candidate for creating a mold. I'll be sure to keep you posted on this
You know... looking at that it does not look like it would be that hard to make a mold of that yourself, to make fiberglass reproductions. There was an article a while back in Hot Rod, i think, that went over doing this type of thing. Maybe I will try to track it down. They broke the process down into fairly simple and easy to follow steps.
That article would be a great reference. I've been wanting to look into how the molding process works and just how much it really takes to do (and to do well).
Nice article. I also did a search on making fiberglass molds (using google) and got some articles that were a little more complete. The investment in materials is relatively small compared to the cost of buying an aftermarket fiberglass spoiler and it's a good skill to have for custom work. I figure I can use it for a spoiler, subwoofer enclosure, headliner board repair, and perhaps kick panel speakers. Unfortunately, my TA has far more pressing things to work on than appearance.
I must have those wheel flares...have 4th gen spoiler already...does anyone know where I can get a set of those flares at all? Perhaps by some freak chance does GM still carry them?
I've seen two birds in person with the spoiler and I'm almost positiave that neither had the matching wheel spats. I have to assume that they're a tough find, but there are members on this board that have them. If you're really serious about getting a set, I'd suggest contacting some of the businesses that are sponsors to the message board.
persistence pays off .... the guy who backed out of the sale finally sold it to me. he'd done some of his own work on it ... it's going to take some work to get it right.
Thats really cool, I like the theme you have going on with your car, the shaker hood, the 70's fender heat extractors, and with that spoiler... cool, I really like it... I know its not everyones cup of tea, but its unique and bold...

John
thanks, but that white firebird's not mine. i saw it in a driveway, got curious and took the pics. the guy who owns it has no idea what that body kit is, he bought the car off a used car lot.
it's way too garish for me.
the pics of the spoiler i have are down towards the bottom of the page. they're labeled "spoiler01", "spoiler02", etc.
Re: Firebird spoiler, 1988 Special Appearance Package
Has anyone heard any word on someone reproducing these spoilers? I'd love to have a couple of them, one for each of my 'Birds. Thanks

That would be cool if they did. I'd like to get something on my wife's Formula because it looks nekkid without the wing on it. Since the holes have been filled already when it was painted prior to us getting it now would be the opportune time to put a different style on it vice the original aerowing that came on the car.
