When I put in my fourth gen console I found a new key with a microchip in it under the carpet. It didn't even have the hole punched out on it for the keychain. I put it in the igntion, and it starts the car. Saves me the $30 or so I've been meaning to put into making a spare key.

I read a thread on here a while ago where alot of people were saying that they found them under the passenger side carpet, and under the console area carpet. I guess the consensus was that the assembly line workers would accidentally drop them in the car, and it was easier and cheaper for GM to just put another key in the car than stop the assembly line to find the key. One guy even said that he found an entire keyring of GM master keys buried in a seat.

Originally posted by MdFormula350 thats some pretty good luck, i always look forward when i first get a thirdgen what i will be finding when cleaning it out.
laf. my buddy found a "Fast and the Furious" dvd and some monopoly money (i think it was 10 bucks) under the rear drivers-side seat.
me.. i got left with some broken glass and about 8 bucks in change.
I found a ziplock bag of orange paintballs, a golf club, a blockbuster employee tag with "Rob" on it, a baseball, a new oil filter, and some cut wires and extra fuses. Everything but the golf club was in the trunk in the locked compartment.

leaves, leaves, and more leaves,
VIP pass to a strip club in chicago,
4-way tire iron with a hubcap pryer-upper,
lug nut key code,
right handed leather glove,
buzzer box for keys, etc which i reinstalled but later destroyed,
bottle of 20-W50 in engine compartment along with a ghetto paper funnel and a t shirt (too oily to read),
100W amp attached to a sony cdplayer,
blown fuse (20A)
random dipstick,
large piece of sheetmetal covering the gaping hole above fuel tank,
7/16"deepwell socket (found it in a body panel when i took ground fx off, stuck to one of the gfx bolts)

lots of cigarettes under center console
Crackpipe under center console
Hide-a-key under a giant cling-on of dirt in the front left fender
finishing nails in place of cotter pins on the rotors
....all i can think of for now, i dont know how that much change managed to get into the doors (had to take panels off to get to it... probably saved a little weight). I counted it all just for the hell of it
I found a torx head screw driver that was the fit for the console screws thank *** no more fitting alen wrenches hmm and I found alot of change(There is a perfectly scientific reason you find tons of change in these things its cause you sit at an upgrade and the cars rattle like a son of a bi... donkey Gee im smart drop down and throw stuff at me ) and some books AND A USED CONDOM WOW GEEE AM I LUCKY HOW THE HELL DID SOMEONE USE THAT IN MY CAR DAMN MIDGITS
I found the original build sheet inside the rear drivers side panel. I also found a pencil inside every panel I have ever removed, I mean dash pad, lower dash, center console, under rear seats, by the spare, inside the drivers door, that one blew me away. and found a cigerette butt in the honey comb padding behind the front bumper cover.
I found the locking lug in the original bag with instructions in the console... the build sheet in the locking cubby in the back.. and a folder with the window sticker, camaro tape, camaro manual, all the service records since new, and a few other goodies in the passenger seat... but i spent 8 months looking for my car
Well I just got 4th gen seats yesterday, and when taking out the back seats and found about $.13 under the pass side rear seat and a quarter and a Playboy from April 2002 under the the drivers rear seat. LOL

You people using strut replacement props, be forwarned. I did the same thing until I noted the hole it made in my hood. If you replace the gas struts, you'll be amazed you didn't do it sooner. I got mine on eBay and they work worlds better then the ones I made do with! Never found ANYTHING other then garbage in mine and my spare key is gone too ugh! haha
