custom 86 trans am spoiler options-origional is a mess!
Ihave an 86 TA with the wrap around wing, it looks nice but it is cracked and peeling (and also really heavy). No way of fixing it that I know of. I would like to here of some suggestions of spoilers from other vehicles that may have worked for other people. The after market cataloges don't suggest anything and don't have any measurements. thanks for any help.
Mine is the same way. It appears to have been white at one point as I sanded down a little portion of it to see what I had to take off to get it back to baseline.
I will try and take it down and then prime it next month. Definately use some flex agent in the paint.
Do a SEARCH. There's a ton of info on here on this topic.
Basically GM designers screwed up by letting our cars leave the factory with these junk spoilers. You can't put enough flex additive
in the paint,it will still crack. Your only alternative is to replace the factory one with a aftermarket one thats made out of fiberglass.
No rot no cracked paint and they weigh less than half that of a factory one. Or If you don't want to spend $300 + for a aftermarket you can do what I did and get a 91-92 style wrap around wing or a factory 4th gen style works with a little modifing.
Do a search on this board under spoiler and see what everyone
else has done.
