Underdash Panel?

Are there two different underdash panels that go on the driverside above your feet? It seems like there would be one for automatics and one for 5-speeds, but all I can ever find is for automatics. I ask this because mine is missing and want to get the correct one, it's for an 86 Camaro.

If you are into doing a little bit of do-it-yourself work here. You could take one of the panels from an automatic and make the cut-out for the clutch pedal yourself with a saw and dremel tools. Just a thought!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure a similar topic was discussed in the histo/resto forum.

I think some cars didn't even have those panels at all! Send Scottmoyer a PM about it....I think the thread was his.

...all in all, I don't remember exactly what the deal was.

Abubaca,

You are right, some years and models didn't get them. To hold the underdash lights, they used a plastic light holder attached to the kick panels. My 89 Iroc didn't have them when I got it but I found some good panels in the local boneyard and installed them. The 85 Z28 had them and the 91 - 92RS's had them along with the 86 t/a

Trickster- you're right about cutting the panel myself. My car was originally an automatic, and when I installed my 6 speed I cut a slot in the panel for the clutch pedal. The problem was that my panel was missing the mounting tab that goes to the gas pedal so it didn't sit quite right. I assumed there was a 5-speed specific panel, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks for the help guys.
