I need a good window tint adhesive remover - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

I have rear window defrost on my notch bac GTA and Im trying to find a solvent to remove the glue part of the film. the tint pealed off easily but the glue part of the film has stayed.

Any resolutions ..

The only solution I know o fis one that doesn't smell all that good and that is, using a solvent such as laquer thinner, acetone, goof-off works pretty good or something similar to that.
Goof-off would probably be the more ideal as it has a longer wet time than than thinner to break down the adhesive. Just my opinion though..

i took my tint off a couple days ago, and i used gas combined with a razor blade, worked good

Believe it or not, Formula 409 works great. Spray it on and then cover it up with som Saran wrap for about 5 minutes. Take off the wrap and wipe the glue away. You have to do it a couple times but it works slick. The only reason I said saran wrap is because I doubt you kept the tint you peeled off, that works awesome. I just did this on my beater car to get off the Wal-Mart special tint that was so bubbled I couldn't see through it.

Removing the glue is a pain in the **sh!!

When the law decieded I shouldn't be protected from the sun's harmful rays I used 3M adhesive remover. Worked like a charm. Outstanding product.
They have plastic razor blades that work well too.

Goof-off, a razor blade, and a steady hand. The 409 sounds interesting though...

Well I already tried the 3 m adhesive remover spray and the one that comes in the small white and red tin can as well and they did absolutely nothing..

But I am going to try the 409 and then the goof off if all else fails I will just bust the window and replace the glass j/k

I used Lacquer Thinner and Fine Steel Wool....worked great...didn't hurt the defrost one bit...

I was recently told by the local tinter that removing tint from rear windows is as easy as spraying an ammonia/soap solution on the window, putting plastic on the inside and outside of the window and park the car in the sun. After about 15 minutes, the glue should be soft enough to just wipe off. This is what the pros do in FL.

That's what my brother and I did to get it off the hatch in his camaro. It was still hard to get off though, we had to use a razor to get it started, but then it peeled well. Here's a hint, don't leave it outside where the wind can evaporate/dry off the ammonia.

Trust me, it works. Formula 409 is an ammonia based cleaner. I don't think the heat is nessecary, but you could give it a shot, seing as that's how I got the tint off my Honda, in February in Colorado. I think it was only about 35 degrees out, and cloudy as hell.

I have taken tint off of many cars. Nothing works better than straight ammonia in a spray bottle. The smeel will knock you down but it works great.

Walmart sells a tint remover in the auto section, I used that to get the tint off of my t-tops, when i retinted them. It was like $6.
