spider stress cracks in the rear bumper's paint
ok my back bumper (plastic) has the paint cracked around the corners, and along the top of it. What do i do to it to make it ready to paint? I mean i dont want to have to paint it again because it cracks again. The bumper is NOT cracked it is ust the paint. It looks like stress cracke. Can i just prime and sand or do i have to take it down to the plastic then prime and paint? I did a search but it comes up as page not displayed or something so i thought id ask firsthand.

if your bumper covers are stock they are most probably going to be rubber. my car is in the paint shop right now and they said the best way to fix it so it will never crack again is to buy fiberglass covers. i don't know what process it takes to fix the cracks but i hope this is helpful.

U have to sand them out all the way down to the plastic. And if they were painted before u would want to get that old paint off.The more paint that is builted up easier it will crack again. Then have to repaint and but a flex in the primer and clear coat. If u don't it will crack again. I wouldnot want firberglass bumpers cuz if u get bumped or something it will crack would rather fix plastic bumpers anyday before F/G ones..
