So i was thinking about doing a pearl/metallic baby pink for my 86 camaro. right now its in the middle of body work and is white right now. Everyone around me seems to be so against me doing that color. I think its perfect b/c its not like every other camaro and its like that neon green one thats on here its will stick out n thats wat i want.
Also if any one has any pink colors in mind can u reply...THANKS!!
Saw a nice dark metallic pink on a car here, looked awesome with big chrome wheels luv to see pix if u do it!

Try orange always good. Just now I'm restyling the interior from gry to black with leather seats and all that plus custom center console.
The hood ist flat black now due to a front impact. I still havent't decided though what to do with it. Someone have a pic of a Firebird with a cowlhood on it?
REQUEST! Could someone plz post a half-attractive picture of a "Royal Blue" Firebird? No GFX if possible. I decided to go white with the car, with a blue bird on the hood. However, my freinds gf claims i just copy whatever he decides to paint his car, (there is some truth to that), but i wasnt doing it knowingly. SO.... Show me ur Blue-Birds, its the only other colour id like other than white. Also, a two-tone, or interesting graphics would be cool too.
Hey i read the thread. Looks killer, (my imagination sucks), so i cant wait to see those wheels on and in clear-coat and final buffing and polishing. I would still go with the royal blue, but ive taken a slightly different route. I wanna keep my tan interior so the outside colour would be dependant on that, either black (like it is now, or burgandy/maroon metallic type thing. Thanks for posting, i love the look.
Nice colors....stupid question (well maybe not) Where do I find my paint code and how/where can I get it decoded? My car was repainted before I bought it and I want to know the original color.
You can't touch a good deep black paint with the gold on the wheels and trim. I don't know, maybe I'm stuck on the Smokey and the Bandit look but black and gold just plain rocks.

89 RS, 93 LT1, Insbrook white and white pearl. Photo taken at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (The strip at Las Vegas) Painted by myself at my shop in Colorado Springs Co. Anyone need work done??
This is my ongoing project. Repainted back to Polo Green with a stripe to highlight the hood scoop. I'll keep the 15" Ghetto Golds, unless I can find a reasonbly priced option for 16" or 17" wheels.PICT0010.JPG
Camaro5690 - Look on the bar that goes across near your radiator, there should be a plate there with stamped in letters. There will be codes on there. I believe the second line will say something like 16U 16L (if it was silver) or something to that effect (16 being Upper, and 16 being Lower).
Simz28 - I used a gallon. I mixed half paint to about half reducer and a dash of hardener, and I was able to do one thick/two dust coats on the entire vehicle. Not including the engine bay which will be done over winter to the black that the car will be changing into.
I'll be repainting into either a matte black or a gloss black with satin black highlights or gloss black highlights. Right now it's electric blue metallic until the sun eats it away and it's time for new. All the black cars are sexy as hell.

I take it then, your wheels are the 15" Fiero ones, not the 16" GTA crosslace wheels?
Why settle for one color?
It is DuPont Chromalusions paint, color is Tru Blasberry, done by me with the help of some guys I used to work with, after work over a winter. Roughly 3-4 months.
When I painted my 92, that was the color I wanted,
But, at that time, nobody but Dupont made that kind of paint. And to get the Dupont, you had to provide a Saleen Mustang VIN # to get it. And after you got it, a rep was sent out to give it to you, watch the car get painted, then take back any left overs, so the "Saleen" paint couldn't be applied, to any other car. Something about it being the Mystique paint on them.
Weird huh? That was the story I got, when I tried to order it. Closest I got was a flip flop, blue to purple. Radar Blue.
I dont think mine is the Saleen color. DuPont has a whole line of paint called Chromalusions and mine is just one of the colors. There was a couple dozen variations. Most only do 2 or 3 colors. Mine does all 7. The sales rep did come out to see my car when it was done tho. He said it was the first car done in WI with that particular color.
For those that painted their's pearl white, what company paint, how many coats of base and clear did you apply? i want mine that color because it is the closest to the factory white that i like. please tell me more.
do you have a picture of a car paiinted gold, someone told me i should paint my camaro that color, the guy at the paint shop said it was paint code GM55?
I LOVE RED MY CAR IS RED LOVEN THE RACING STRIPS ON THE HOOD...SETS IT AL OFF

i think i spent between 500 and 600 for my paint alone....its called 'go-man-go pearl' and its seen on the new dodge daytona trucks...i foudn someone who would mix it for 50 a quart but originally its 225 (they swore its the same color haha)
heres the only good pictures i have of the car so far
Is there a reason you don't have a gas door or spoiler? Love the color tho.

haha thanks guys i appreciate it and niterider, i dont have a gas door, spoiler, mirrors or hood vents on there because i had to take them off to paint separately (i wanted it to look like it came from the factory this color) but the gas door and the spoiler and 2 hood vents got messed up when painting...some sort of grease or oil got on them so i have to repaint them...the mirrors are on now though atleast on the drivers side because someone already hit the passenger door lol but thanks guys for the compliments
as to the instructions on the sticky on page one:
it took me all summer to prep this car as it is my daily driver, i bondo'd it, air-boarded it, and primered it where it needed to be fixed at, then i ordered the parts i needed and fit them, i.e. the front bumper and a fourth gen style spoiler
i painted it myself at my dad's shop under close supervision of him to make sure i didnt mess anything up, and as i said before, the cost of the paint was somewhere between 500 and 600, front bumper: 300 and the spoiler was 350
hope that answers all the question that are posted on page one
thanks

thebirdisonfire: i am no expert on prices when it comes to paint, but i must say that if you brought it to a shop, the cost would vary for how much it would be to paint your bird...plus it depend on if you will do the prep work yourself, i.e. the sanding and such.....i would estimate more than 700 because thats like a maaco price and i will not ever recommend someone from this site to ever waste their money there becasue their paint just peels off in a matter of weeks, ive seen it happen a few times...but i would say between 750 and 1000 personally...someone probably has a better price, but ya know what....jsut stop in a local body shop because i dont know about you, but by me all the estimates are free! haah
