recovering PMD seats

Has anyone recovered front PMD seats by themselves? How hard is it? Is it worth the $50 you save by buying the covers as opposed to letting an upolstery shop re-do them?

thanks

You might want to PM redraif; she installed a set of Hawk's custom PMD covers in her car, and can offer some advice I'm sure. I have seen a few PMDs recovered, some by amateurs and some by professionals, but I think hers turned out better than any I have ever seen. PMDs are definitely a little tougher to install than your average seat cover.

I was thinking of getting my drivers seat re upholstered. I don't imagine that it would be very expensive. The hardest thing I would suspect would be to get the correct colour fabric. I know there are places that stock genuine GM colours but I don't know how expensive it is.

I tried the local upolstery shops and had no luck getting the correct replacement fabric. We found it but it wasn't available.
One place wanted $400 and the other wanted $600 just for the front seats. Most likely I will get replacement covers from Hawks for around $350.
