I need new carpet for my convertible. The interior is medium grey (857) and the trunk carpet is black.
So I called HawksThirdgenParts and asked how I can order the whole carpet set (bit cheaper than buying interior and trunk carpet separately) in two different colors. I was told that this is no problem: "just order the interior color and then put in a comment that you want black carpet for the trunk area". Which is exactly what I did and was happy that it was that easy.
To my disappointment, both carpet pieces that arrived are grey. I just got off the phone with a CSR at Hawks. She sees no way how they can help, besides me ordering (and paying for) a new extra black piece for the trunk. She told me that there is no way that I can recieve two pieces of different color if I order the whole set, exactly "this is not how it works". At this point, I am puzzled why I've been told that I can order the set with a different color trunk carpet but now they are backing out of it. This is rather unprofessional.
What do you suggest I do? From what I've been just told on the phone, it's my fault for ordering the wrong color and I'm stuck with grey trunk carpet.
Please do not lock this thread for "bashing a sponsor" or something similar, I am only trying to find a satisfactory solution to my problem.
Any advice is appreciated.
Lou

Yes I second what CaysE said, one of the girls that answers the phone isn't all that helpful.. she usually just tells you to get on the website (why would I call if I wanted to order from the website?) ---call back and talk to Bruce
Also as far as i am aware all convertables had black trunk carpet, so if i were supplying carpet replacement for convertables i would send black carpet for the trunk regardless of the interior color.
call em back and ask for a supervisor and/or Bruce.

Again, Talk to Bruce personally. He's VERY helpful. Let him know the guys here on Thirdgen.Org recommended Hawk's and that we're sure That He'll work it out.
....But I don't know how. You may end up paying for a grey interior, and a black trunk. But I'm sure they won't stick you with what you have.
Knowing Bruce well, and having been in the industry and dealt with his supplier (ACC I'm assuming), I'm sure he can take care of you. ACC will sell carpet however you want, and most likely your request was just overlooked at some point. I have special ordered carpet from them several times with more unusual requests (no holes cut for a car the customer was deleting the console in, "lightweight" carpet with no jute backing glued on, etc), so I'm sure ACC will do it.

Thanks, guys. I'll call Bruce but I'll have to wait until Monday. I was hoping somebody would know a reasonable person that works ther. The owner is actually the best!
Thanks again

I talked to Bruce and he promised to take care of the mix-up. Which he did and I applaud him for this. Though, I had to agree to pay the re-stocking fee for the trunk carpet that was being returned. Not exactly fair but heck, I should be glad I got the right carpet now and shut up, right?
So if you ever need to place an order that's even a bit out of the ordinary, better place it over the phone and make damn sure the person knows what exactly you want.
