okay i have the ocean sand light tan interior, and its not the cleanest thing.i want a whole black interior,but i need a good paint or something for all the plastic's.i tryed several off the shelfs paints buut they get scratch easy.any advice?

ive heard krylon fusion is pretty good for plastic parts.... you can find it just about anywhere.

if you search you can find a lot of threads of people debating this topic...

basically heres the summary

if you want to go super professional you can buy like a 3 or 4 step process paint called SEM paint...but you have to get if either offline or find a specialty auto paint store...i only found it online after looking EVERYWHERE

or

go to orielly, hobby lobby, etc...and pick up Krylon fusion plastic paint...GO TO HOBBY LOBBY bc they have more selection...you can buy a satin black which is basically flat black or get a little shinnier black if you want that...ive used both and both black products if applied correctly...

1. clean surface w/atleast water or ammonia
2. shake can really well and apply light thin coats (make sure you know how to spray paint properly...side to side spraying on and off)
3. let it dry well and then your set

people will tell you krylon is too shiny...it cracks...etc they probably applied it to heavily...bc if its too shiny you probably sprayed way too much and therefore its easy to crack since its all globed up on the plastic

GO krylon if you want something easy to get and quick to use and youll be just fine

i have sprayed MANY parts with fusion and have had ZERO problems

The SEM paint is AWESOME for plastics and rubbers. I was lucky enough to get it through my father's shop. I repainted my grill and hood louvers with it, it looks better than factory.

Krylon fusion didn't work for me. Try to find Duplicolor Vinyl and Carpet dye in a rattle can, it works great and won't chip off because it actually dyes the plastic.

The biggest factor when painting plastics, or any pieces for that matter is the prep work. Make sure to wipe the parts to be painted really well with some sort of degreasing solvent. That my friend is the key.

For you folks that painted your interior, how long have you had it? Somebody 2 or 3 years would be great. Are you pleased with the results?

i've used this stuff on all kinds of things, that stuff works pretty good. I have used the fusion paint but i've heard alot of good stuff about it. But like astoria18 said it actually dies the fabric and vinyl. I've used it alot on computer/xbox mods never had a problem. It's really thin just be careful or it will run and look like crap. Either approach practice on something to see how it's going to lay.

Also 82firebird is right, prepwork makes the difference in everything you do to a car.

I use SEM paint all the time for overhead video consoles to match a cars interior perfectly. It is THE BEST paint I HAVE EVER USED to paint interior parts.

I suggest wearing rubber gloves, lightly sanding the surface with 600 grit paper, and wiping it down with rubbing alcohol, letting it completely dry, then wipe it with a lint free cloth. after it is degreased dont touch it with bare hands!

PS- 1 coat of SEM dries in like 2 mins with light heat from a heat gun... or a blow drier if you dont own one.

so dupli color or sem,so were can i get this sem?i painted my whole trunk area with krlon fusion and it got scratch with a broom,but then if u scarcth it with ur nail nothing happens.

Let me get this straight, you clean your trunk with a broom. Is that right?

no guys, i put some brooms in the car to take them to my uncles house and with me turning fast and the brooms going every were ended up scartching it.i found a website that will sell me sem paints.they told to use sem soap, prep paint and my color of choice.

I haven't done this to a car interior, but used it in a bucket seat for a boat. It has held up for 2 years, constantly in the sun/rain/sand. I used this stuff that was like $5 a can too.

I used the krylon. As stated before, clean with a soft brush ( I used Simple Green, 50/50 with water), Spray several light coats, finish with a clear coat for vinyl. Check the link in my sig and look at the '76 corvette. Notice a couple pics there that have two like panels sitting side by side. One cleaned and sprayed, one not. It took my son and I about 3 weeks to strip and clean the interior and another 2 months to get it back together and looking good.
