Has anyone ever sent there Firebird Guage Bezel in to be custom fitted. I see that already make one for Pre 90 Camaro's, The only thing that would suck is they don't have amber or red, However i kinda like the blue. 899 seem like a decent price if yeah got spare cash. IE tax returns, inheritance, Insurance money. If someone has done it do they have pics?

I have bezels but not like the ones you are talking about (I don't think)
$899 is a lot but who else really sells digital gauges for a specific kind of car. But i would think you could buy individual gauges from dakota and put them in.
Don't know if this will help you or not, but I made this setup for my bird a couple weeks ago. It accepts all autometer gauges. They're just not in it for this pic. Bolts in just like the factory panel.
That is pretty much the same thing im doing except mine will have the turn signal and high beam indacator in it still and it will also have the heater vents in it
also im going to try and get a 5" speedo and tach in mine
measured it should fit but it will lokk good is what im concerned about wish they made 4" aftermarket stuff
It's made out of a material called Kydex. It'l like ABS plastic but it isn't brittle. I had it laying around the shop and it ended up working perfect. It wasn't hard to do, just time consuming. Took better part of 6-7 hours. I took out the stock gauge bezel and cut out the center section where the stock gauges were. Then I made that piece to fit in the opening and epoxied it in place. Below is a pic of the filler before I glued it to the bezel.
That's exactly what I want to do. Does anyone know what colors of wire go to which gauge. or do you have to run all new wires? would like to just splice into the factory harness. My car is an 85, so could I just buy a cable driven speedo and plug it right into the factory cable?
that is EXACTLY what i have been conceptualiuzing for a while now as well. but the guages are going to cost a whoping 473$ not including shipping. so i am holding off.
do you have a template or somthing or any more pics? that thing needs its own thread in the "fabrication" forum.
That is awesome. I wouldn't mind that...cept theres nothing inbetween the speedo and tach holes yah know? Seems like theres something missing and when it comes to dashs and clusters...thats a must! Good job tho!
I'm assuming you use the dakota digital box to send the information to your dash gauges, so how do you program it? I've been told all it takes is to flip the switches in a certain order, but I've yet to hear how that works.
