I see there is a tech articule on replacing headliner as well as loads of other posts. On the tech articule it says to use 3M 77 spray adhesive but I have seen on other posts that it says to use 3M 08090 as this is specifically for headliners and has a high heat resistance as well as being a heavy duty spray. But unfortunetely this spray is only sold in the USA. but I can get 3M 77 as that is available here. Anyone who has stuck headliner with 3M 77, did it hold, any signs of sagging a few months down the road. Did the adhesive hold during the Summer months when the car interior gets very hot.

I cannot answer your question but i have gotten another adhesive from loctite. I have not used it yet but i will tell you soon how the quality on it is

Are these addhesives ment to repair or install headliners?

Cuz mine is held up against the roof with clips, the dome, the visores and the a pillar plastic.

My soft fabric is sagging from the main foam....does this 3M stuff spray right onto the headliner. Like the nice side and soak through and glue the soft fabric to the main foam???

Any help learning what this 3M stuff does would be great, and which is better?

I replaced my headliner in my Daily driver. I started out with just doing the slider that covers my sunroof with the 77. That was all i did for that day. about 3-4 days later the fabric started to fall off of it. I later did the actual headliner itself, and about half way through i ran out of glue since i was putting it on pretty heavy, because i thought maybe i didn't use enough on the other piece. So i went back to homo depot, and ended up grabbing the strongest stuff they had.(90's?), and finished the headliner with that.

That was about 3 weeks ago, and now where i used the 77 is already drooping, but everywhere i used the strong stuff is still holding up just fine. I redid the sunroof slider with the strong glue and that is still holding up just fine. So if i ever do a headliner again, i'll definatly pay the extra 3-4 dollors for the stronger glue.

I still don't understand where or how this glue is applied....please fill me in. THX

Dennisbernal91z, the headliner in your car has collasped and the only way to fix the problem is to take out the headliner board and stick new fabric to it. There is no way to fix it without taking the headliner board out. The glue I am talking about is to stick new fabric to the headliner board. The glue has to be strong and also heat resistant as the inside of a car can get very hot in Summer.
Most of the intrerior trim pieces havre to come out to remove the headliner board so I want to get the correct glue as I done want to have to do this again.

The correct glue to use is 3M 08090 as this is specifically for headliners.

Camaro0605: Was the strong stuff you used call 3M 90. If it is I might be able to get that here. Had it a drying time of 1 minute. Let me know.

I've used a couple different glues, the 3M with the little nozzle that sprays contact cement (08090) is the only thing I've found to work. Hard to find and expensive. The Permatex stuff at Autozone will do a fair job, but in the inside corners it will come loose. Other stuff isn't worth the bother. The fabric is glued to the foam backing which is glued to the subpanel. The foam goes bad and no amount of glue will reattach the fabric. Need new special foam backed headliner material, easy to find actually. Clean off old foam from the panel and redo from there.

Quite agree, nothing will re-attach that foam stuff, all the glue did was dissolve more foam.
Hence a new liner.

Where can I get this adhevise (3M 08090 super trim adhesive)?

Should be available in hardware stores that stock 3M products. Search for 3M stockist in your area. That's how I found it.

I work for a 3m distributor and 8090 is definetly your best option..

autozone here in OH carries it
