not my style, nothing that I would do, but you definately did a good job on it, its tasteful and well done, not hacked and thrown together, definately cool and something you dont see everyday. Get a gas door on it and lower it!

use the vette, ditch the mach....could spot that mach 1 scoop from a mile away and say it should be on a 69-71 ford GT (torino, mach, ranchero, etc), the vette scoope could look alright on the cheviac.

It all depends on what you want to spend. You can get the lift off for 225 + a butt load in shipping, the full bolt on for 500 + a butt load of shipping, or you can pay 105 plus 65 for shipping for the scoop and have a little fun doing some body work. If I had the cash I'd by the bolt on hood, but I got too much other stuff to do first.

Surely you jest sir ? The last piece? How about a fuel filler door? I'm sure he'll tell you he's far from done. But I would agree. He already spent all the money, why not? But if your like me you like to make custom pieces. I'd rather build my own one off and have guys ask what that is. Just me though. I can do the body work.

well being that money is tight........I am leaning towards the vette hood scoop on top of a stock hood painted body color while the scoop is black. Its like 65 bux with shipping from up22.com , and I do the painting myself, i have to find a hood though..... what woud be better is if I found an aluminum or glass factory hood in the KY area. What do you guys think about a flat black hood? Like old school challenger and cuda stuff? Or would it look retarded on a already weird car lol Oh word of advice, NEVER do a burnout on a rebuilt rearends first contact with pavement, you may just compress the crush sleeve like on my 9 bolt

I hear that. I hate when my buddies go, "why didn't you get an msd digital distributor setup?", or "why don't you get a polished intake mani?". Like I have the money? It's not their $4000 dumped into it in 6 months. They think for that much cash I could have done more? Between seals, gasket, and the various nuts and bolts I spent almost a grand! Not to mention the brand new tranny that just went in. When it's not your cash, you can always say that some one should get something.

i think the color compliments the lines. if you can pull the tail lights and replace the image with a question mark that would rule. i think a fiberglass stock hood with a 70/s ta shaker hood scoop would kick ***.

I saw what you were talking about with the flat balck hood, last night on PINKS. It was on a 69 vette and had a super drag snorkel but look awesome and can definately see your hood that way. Especially if you had the shaker hood since the scoop usually comes black. I would say most any hood with some sort of scoop would look good that way. Of course this is the opinion of a guy who's camaro's paint is gloss black down one side, flat and destroyed on the other with a stock louvered hood that has white primer spots.

As for a hood you might want to consider either a simple low rise cowl or possibly even a cervinis ram air hood. The ram air II hood (ws6 ls1 style) doesn't really compliment the camaro front end. I should know I got one on my car right now. However it came with the car and with a little bit of tasteful exterior modifictions it doesn't look too bad.

Overall though your project looks pretty badass. I would like to see more pics of your beast as it progresses!

I think the "Transmaro" looks pretty cool! It's another example of good old American ingenuity. If you can make it look like it came from the factory that way, that would be the shizzit.

P.S.: Go with the cowl induction hood, they're my favorites.

can't do the stock GTA......it has to be from a camaro incest is best put your cousin to the test I have some good lookin cousin come to think of it, you might see em on Jerry Springer in a couple weeks, theres Shannon, 4 kids by all different dads working at a low class hooters style restaurant pregnant in skimpy clothes waiting tables, that will bring the best ratings, then there's Stephanie (shannon's sister) That stays so High on painkillers and booze that she forgets to change her babies diaper for a couple days, Oh i can go on and on lol and its all true.... trust me All i have to say about Indiana is that the reson y'all work in KY is so that when you cross the river you can tell what time it is on the colgate clock! Now Hoosier Daddy!? lol (if you like in or around louisville or Jeffersonville you will know what I'm talking about) Gooday everyone I'm getting my hood tommorrow, I'm going to paste the stingray hood scoop on the hood, we are going to have a few days here in the low 60s (to paint)so I may be posting pics of the car with the hood in a couple weeks TransMaro.....coming to a dragstrip near you!!!!

I think that the problem everyone is having with the ground effects is really a problem with the camaro vs the firebird front fenders, if you replaced them with firebird fenders I’d bet that everyone would be happy (and it would look better).

As far as the hood, my instinct is grafting a “turbo dome” (early 3rd gen TA, late 2nd gen TA and later 3rd gen formula) scoop to a camaro hood would be sweet…, but that roadrunner scoop could be interesting with some smoothing/massaging to better fit the lines of the car.

Very nice car man, although i have never realy liked the third gen birds i realy love the 4th gens, i wonder what a 4th gen camaro nose would look like on a bird lol. About the hood i think an old school square snorkle would look sweet on it (not to legal though).

I agree with what foulballs said, i have speen about 3/4 of a year changing my junkyard 89 2.8 camaro into a v8 car. I could of just droped a stock smallblock in it and had it done in no time. What would be the fun in that. My parents always say i could of just bought a running car for what i have put into mine, maby its just me but i like the satisfaction of knowing i did everything on it myself (alittle help of course).

I hear ya on the 6 to 8 conversion, I've been building a 84 camaro for my nephew, it was a 2.8 now its a TPI 305. we started in the summer and it still isn't done, of course my cheviac takes priority Oh and if I used the Firebird fenders there wouldn't have been much point to this whole project, and for some reason the firebirds always reminded me of a parrot in the front and the camaros rear screamed ...........well I don't know what it screamed but I don't like em so sue me. Actually the car is in the shop right now getting the crush sleeve replaced with a solid pinion spacer, I've been sanding on the hood and i'm waiting on the scoop to come in from up22.com, going to put some engine ID on the sides of the scoop, don't know whether to go with litres liters or CID. Cheviac....Driving excitement is the heartbeat of america....oh will the pun ever end?!?!?! lol

I don't get it, they look exactly the same except the creases in the flaired part are not as distinct/square as the camaro ones... you could probably achieve the same thing by putting a little bondo over the creases and blending them a little. Well and hanging the rocker extension straight...

Nu bird,

I can't remember exactly, but I would go with the 70's style camaro badging to give it the authentic muscle car look. I know in smokey and the bandit the trans am had 6.6 Liter on the side. 91-92 formulas had 5.0 Liter F.I. on the hood. In 69, depending on if you got a straight gm or yenko camaro, you could have 302 or 427 emblems on the hood/cowl. 73-75 you could get 455 decals on the hood of a firebird. I would say historically camaro's have c.i.d. and firebirds/TA's have Liters. Since you have both cars, I would go with " 5.7L / 350 C.I.D " or whatever you have.

By the way

HAPPY FREAKIN NEW YEAR!

No, they're basically the same shape and layout as the camaro ones with softer lines...

I mean if I used the TA fenders It would still be a TA, the camaro fenders have a more boxy look than the TAs the lines are a little more muscular for the camaro and more of a sleek thing for the TA fenders, the wheel well opening has a different line to it while they will bolt up on any 3rdgenny thats all they have in common, the lines are totally different, then I woul have to use a hood off of a TA because of the headlights. Then I couldn't call it a transmaro, or cheviac lol

i think the camaros fenders look good they are boxy as you say and so is the *** end of a trans am compared to a camaro. look at the rear quarter angles and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Looks cool, I know a kid thats going to do the same thing to his car, i'll prolly help. Hey man you could confuse some people that it is the only year the T/A came with the camaro front clip. Tell it is some super special extremely rare model.

The 5.3 is a 324 ci engine. I'm glad that crazy monkey left such a good impression on teens. I'm rather upset that some people just hate teens because one is thoughtless, Thats the same as saying i hate old people cause one said something stupid. I'm really upset about that comment, and the one saying they hate geezers. The only knowledge people have about anything is because previous generations have found it out.Crazymonkey again your comment was ignorant, un-needed and thoughtless. Didn't your mom ever tell you that if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. Sorry to rant but the generations battle is getting old, no pun intended.

you'd be suprised, that engine doesn't weigh that much more then an SBC. Some of this should look familiar, big caddy going in a '67 lemans... painted pontiac blue most people can't even figure out what's wrong under the hood now that it's done:

Awsome car camaro's definatly look better with trans am tailights i think camaro tail lights are kinda ugly the way the come out the sides. I think a transmaro would look much better if the fenders were the same shape. like "squary" fenders for a camaro or trans am "rounded" fenders on both front and back. Probably lots of work but well worth it.

you already said you didn't care about negative criticism so who cares anyway. Not trying to pick a fight. Did a good job at it, but it cheapens both the firebird and camaro

yeah I know its not the car's fault, maybe we can get it out of that gutter, and an update with the hood, I have another week for my scoop to come in so until then I'm wiring up my interior, almost done now I don't have to stop the car and get out my VOM just to turn on the fans

I think now you should get one of those fiberglass bolt-on mini beds that takes place of the back hatch. Then you could have a TransCamino.
