Where to find Dupont color samples?

I'm looking for a paint code from the dupont Chroma series. It's a midnight blue that was offered from the early to mid nighties ford thunderbirds I think. I've serched high and low on the net for Dupont color samples but cant find anything. What to do?

Try just finding the code for the color you want, then go to your local dupont dealer, give them the code, and ask to see a chip.

The SPID label should be on the underside of your console lid.

I'm not sure if this is the same everywhere, but NAPA is the DuPont dealer in my town. They have all the color chips there, so you just go in and ask to see them.

That won't help him if he's painting the car a Ford Thunderbird color instead of the stock color.

Did you try the yellow pages? Look up auto paint/body supplies and call until you find a DuPont dealer, then go look at their chips.

is there any truth that there is a machine that can tell what kind of paint is used if a large enough sample is given? If that's the case I'll take the center piece out of the fog lights. The paint I need is a midnight blue mixed with a perl white.

whoops, yep sorry, I forgot you were looking for a Ford color.
Yes, some paint stores have a camera that should find the color, and will actually spit out a formula...which will help for those custom mixes...but they are few and far between as they are expensive.
PPG's is called "PROPHET"... (Or PROFIT), Dupont's new claim to fame is the "VIN-dicator" (They actually are trying to take a snapshot of the car as it rolls off the assembly line which will enter the exact color variant for the specific vehicle in question. So in theory, as any given shop brings a new vehicle in to paint...they enter the VIN and...voila' you have as close a matching formula possible.)
