Ok, so Ive searched and read the tech article. Heres the problem, I have the old headliner cloth pulled away, and most of the old foam rubbed off using a plastic bristle brush. However, there is still the old adhesive there. Is there something I can use to completely get rid of the old adhesive? I was thinking some kind of liquid stripper, or would that be too harsh for the headliner backing? Any advice from anyone who has run into this before would be appreciated, if it helps I will try to post a picture of the problem later.

i used a small wire brush and a palm sander with a light touch.i've got the headliner cleaned off and i have the spray adheisive and the new headliner cloth.now i just need to just do it.

If youve got a hardtop then best of luck to ya cuz Ive never gotten the headliner to stay up.

T-tops headliners on the otherhand are quite easy, just clean the middle section (in b/w the t-tops) really good the other parts will be held from the back.

Rub you hand over the bare frame till its half way clean, then take some adhesive and spray the whole area to be covered and let it completely dry. Stiff bristle brush works well, then your bare hand to smooth everything back out.

Now run your hand over it again. Easy test to see if your clean enuff and a gooooood base for your actual fabric to fiberglass adhesive.

I use the Elmers spray on for the canvas side and hotglue on the backside.
