They will fit older cars that use the pin latch. There are a few older cars with different t-tops that don't interchange. I have never seen the other style so I do not know what they look like.
my 87 Camaro has glass and my 91 firebird lexan, they fit either way.

That's not entirely accurate... They might fit if you force them, but technically the weatherstripping is likely different.
What I found is that the glass tops out of my 87 IrocZ will not latch in my 91 Firebird, and the glass ttop I got in a batch of used parts didn't match the weatherstripping in my 91 Firebird. Also the Lexan ttops from my 91 will not latch into my 87.
All are factory ttops. In addition the NOS lexan ttop I bought off ebay to replace my broken factory original fit my stock original weatherstripping like a glove. FWIW.

There are 2 pin styles, the narrow style and the large plastic tiped style
Just open the t-top up and swap the latching mechanism over and you should be set
Your weather stripping will be accustomed to the lighter deformed lexans and when a flatter heavier glass top gets laid on there, it may have a tendancy to leak, rattle, or catch the top of the door glass unless you adjust the mating pieces and window
I have a set of lexan ones from an 88 car and glass ones from an 89. They were both OEM and they both worked on the 89 chassis. The lexan set I got was also scratched. What I planned to do was paint the t-top itself body color. That way they look much better with no scratches but instead a smooth surface. Downside is you can no longer see through them. Then I would have had a glass set and a painted Lexan set you could swap em and change the look of the car. Unfortunately the chassis I had with t-tops was junked and now I have all hardtop cars. So I gotta figgure out what I'm gonna do with these 2 sets of t-tops. Hopefully I can sell them locally or something.
The lexan tops have several advantages...
-they're light
-they're tinted darker
-they don't tend to leak nearly as bad
The disadvantages are pretty simple...
-the plastic degrades over time, gets internal cracks or hazing.
-the plastic tends to squeek when it moves against the weatherstipping (glass tops just rattle)
If you want the lightest weight possible, go lexan. If you want them to look good forever and you don't care about weight, go glass.
The glass tops from the same year car should swap into a car that had lexan tops originally. GM had a standing tsb about replacing OEM lexan tops with glass tops. They switched back and forth between the two in production and as service replacements.
