Well I installed a grant signiture series wheel in my car and no my horn doesnt work, when installing i neglected to put the horn ring in because the schematic in the instructions didnt show it being hooked up to anything, so if you guys have any ideas on what could be wrong i would appreciate the feed back, just as long as it isnt "go do a frickn search", cuz i did and this is where it left me .
Wow, you got an answer. I asked this a long time ago and got nothing, now lets see if I can get another answer. I replaced the GT horn button with a solid red bow tie cap. I no longer can use this for honking my horn so I am going to relocate the switch somewhere. Now here is my ?, do I have to go through the horn relay or can I just run a power wire and then straight to the horns?

ya know that dukes of hazzard sounds cool, but could you imagine pulling up to race a camaro and here la cucaracha, now that would just be funny, or maybe im just crazy
Iron duke, could you put some longer screws in so your cap sits away from the wheel by placing a spring behind it, kinda hook it up like the challenger style wheels.
I had a friend that took a motorcycle kill switch that was obviously spring loaded and hooked that up for his horn because he did something similar with a solid cap.
It's not really a horn cap at all. I pulled it off a steering wheel and all it is is a black disc with a red bow tie. I don't even think the wire is still in the column, so my question still stands. Can I just install a dc push button switch somewhere on my console or dash and wire it up straight, or do I have to go through the horn relay?

when my friend put the kill switch in as a horn button i think he just ran all new wiring between the switch and horn, his car is a 65 mustang that was completely gutted and he needed the horn to pass inspection. And im assuming you have a grant wheel, they do make a horn button that has the red bow tie on it.

Yes I saw it and I like it, I don't know if I like my wheel enough to spend $30 for a horn cap though. I remember someone telling me I couldn't run a straight 12 volts to the horn for some unknown reason. Does anyone know, has anyone done it?

hey say the heck with your car horn and install an air compressor and throw in a diesel horn complete with the little pull rope and all,
I dont know whether the stock horn can take 12v or not, i would follow the stock wiring or just splice into it before the relay, if it has a relay, but as far as electrical current goes I dont know much, maybe a moderator should move this to tech, or electrical, that way you can get the expertise needed for your question, but good luck.
Thanks,
I have asked there also, I guess I will figure it out by trial and error.

I believe the whole point in running a relay is so that you have to run less amperage through th horn switch (resulting in a smaller wire) The camaro horns are the same as all other gms and I have tested them with 12 volts, The relay doesn't reduce it from 12 volts. My g/fs 76 chevy truck I'm rewiring right now has the same horns as the camaro and the only thing on the painless kit for the horn is a relay, so my guess is it doesn't matter. Although not using the relay will limit your switch life, and you may want to make sure you have a good guage wire going to your switch.
