Yeah, I feel your pain! With the holiday season steadily approaching I don't think i'll see the wheels before mid January, but we'll see! So until then I don't think I will have any new pics to post. This thread has been rather addictive for myself and from the looks of it has also been for a few of you as well! Anyway, don't give up as soon as the wheels are in, you'll be the first to know.
To all of you I would like to thank you again for your nice words and I value your suggestions.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and the very best in the new year!
woah! i haven't looked at this thread for a while and now your cars painted! it looks amazing i cant wait to see it 100% complete its gonna be so BA. Nice color choice too thats what i was thinking about doing my car in but still not sure.
~Edelbrock open element air cleaner~Edelbrock TES headers and y pipe~3" Magnaflow converter~3" cutout~Flowmaster cat-back~AIR delete~3.73 posi rear end~UMI Panhard Bar~Monroe Sensa Trac rear shocks~Energy suspension poly torque arm bushing~Energy Suspension trans mount~
Thanks dude! I kinda like the beater look, it's growing on me! lol
Anyway.......guys, I was sooooo close to buying the LS7 block, now I am pretty much convinced that I will be waiting for the LSX iron block! Here's why, with a 4.2" bore, and 4.1" stroke and 72 cc heads I will have a 454 cubic inch small block!!!! I think it will be worth the wait! Also the wall thickness between cylinders will be > than 0.150" maybe closer to 0.175". So down the road when the nitrous bottle or blower finds it's way on my car i'll have a strong block for it!

I think Neil had a custom rollcage built. Attachment points? I think it is at least 6? I'll have to check and maybe provide some pictures. Merry Christmas everyone!
But, that's just the short block. It still would need heads and an intake, just to build a long block. Then, LS exhaust would be needed for the chassis it is being dropped in to.
Jeez! That means you'd still hafta add a crank, rods, cam, bearings, oil pump, oil pump pickup, etc. At that point, might as well buy the LS7 for $13k!
Naaaa that's too easy and I want more HP than 500! LOL
hahaha
classic "just right is never enough, and too much is just about right!"
im the same way... and probably everyone else here!

Hope everyone is having a great holiday! Neil, wheels were received back at I-Forged today, so it shouldn't be too ling for the 4 completed wheels! I heard Houston was 32 Degrees! That is a little cold! Let me know if you are intown this weekend. I get back Friday night.
Man I was just reading the article on the LSX block and DAMN thats the last block you will ever need to buy! the only thing that turned me off was the weight, if your only looking to make 500-800hp I would go with the aluminum C5R but if you ever think about going to 1000+ then the LSX is the way to go. Neil how much power did you want to make?

yep, cut and buffed already, we'll probably do a bit more as well as any touch up needed once the car is complete, engine wheels interior etc....there is always some little touch up needed after all the trim engine, lines etc and interior are complete...

Yeah, I would love to go with the C5-R block, but the price savings of going with the LSX is worth it to me. I am planning to make between 600-700 HP.
After the outer quarters were widened, but before they were painted, a mold could have been taken, and fiberglass widened quarters could have been sold. I'm batting they would have sold like crazy!
Too much for the Camaro owners to hope for, I'm sure...Did ya'll think of this already and do that?

face it, the c5r is too expensive for most people. the lsx is the perfect avg hotrodder block. you can do anything from a 427 to a 511 ci motor. etp has a world warhawk block right now for their test motor with canted valve heads on it making 860hp as a 440ci motor. its a good time to be an lsx junkie=)
Well I miss spoke, I ment to say stick with a LS2 if you want to be around 500-800 I would be cheaper and lighter than doing the LSx BUT if you want more than that then DEF go with the LSX, the possibilities with that block are endless.
but the rear quaters are available alone. Check ebay or go to dankos website. they are there. Call them. Cost $300. I think. I have talked to them before. Find the website and spend 5 minutes there. It is impossible to not find the parts...
Neil, when do you think you will have this thing running? If you get it done before june you should take it on the Hot Rod Power tour! I know I would LOVE to cruise with that thing!

I hope to have it running by February or latest mid March. Going on the Hot Rod Power tour would be cool. Depending on work we'll have to see though. As for those fiber glass quarters, they do look cheesy IMO. The more subtle, factory look is the way to go.

Sweet even if you only caught the last two legs (Arkansas and Memphis)

I Agree, the SLIGHT mod you did is WAY more subtle and you almost have to know it was done or know thirdgens to see it.
Well as for the rear quarters... They are def not super nice or anything, but for the price, and if you want to do something a bit different, why not. How much would you charge for the widening alone. I am sure it is a ballpark away from 300. But anyways, I understand how people think it looks cheasy. I would never do it, but I can see how someone might.
