I am waiting patiently for the LSX block, honestly......I am trying to be patient!!! Also, I am in the hunt for a 4.250" stroke cranshaft and 4.125" pistons (this combination will yeild 454 cu.in. of displacement). I think Callies has this crank available for the LS motors, but I am not sure.
Texas Speed & Performance will have LS7 heads available in a couple months that will flow 407 cfm! That is just sick!!! As for HP numbers, I am going to be conservative and say 800+ and honestly that would be plenty for me. These big HP numbers are contigent on whether I can get a Kenne Bell Supercharger made for the LS7 heads.

Spike-Z, once I get the car in my garage I will start working with the rear brake bracket, hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks i'll have some more info and photos for you with the rear C6 ZO6 calipers on.

I looked for the :faint: emoticon, but TGO doesn't have it...

It sounds like you've got plenty of interior work, etc., to occupy your time researching the LSX block, heads, (engine stuff/specifics)etc. Besides, it'd be frustrating as hell to get the engine done, but have no interior to sit in, and not drive the car!

And we thought the body was sick! It's just the tip of the iceberg apparently...

Daily Driver

If you guys read the very 1st sentence of the 1st post on this board....

"I am going crazy with this car, I plan to make it a daily driver, yet a show car."

For those of you unfamiliar with the english language, the phrase: "daily driver" really means...I am going try to qualify on the Nextel Cup - NASCAR cirucuit.

I overheard him talking in his sleep one night...
"I'm going to give you an engine low to the ground.
An extra-big oil pan that'll cut the wind underneath you.
That'll give you 30-40 more horsepower.
I'll give you a fuel line that'll hold an extra gallon of gas.
I'll shave half an inch off you and shape you like a bullet.
When I get you primed, painted and weighed you're going to be ready to go
out on that racetrack.
You're going to be perfect."

Also Neil was wondering if anyone has any leads on getting some good window netting and he will be holding opening tryouts for front and rear tire changers. Mike already has the position of Jack Man.

I look forward to Neil posting a video on youtube of the Dyno test.

The dyno #s will be nice, but I'd love to see this thing autocross! With those tires, and I'm a suspension to support them, it outta be killer on a course!

The only downside to autocross...You can't compare times from location to location, or even month to month in one place, since the track changes every month. You can only do a direct comparison of cars thhat run in thhat place, and that day.

Bro,

Your a funny guy, now why don't you get your own car and we'll see how you'll do in a crowd!!! On second thought, i'll let you take mine for a few laps but if you so much as bend it a little bit, i'll tear your b@lls off! Now turn 3 gets as slick as a button, if you don't watch it you're gonna slip and slide and slam yourself right in the wall before you know it, so just take it easy out there.

All: my brother and I communicate with one another using lines from movies that we have seen over the years.....evidently we're just getting started, lol

Stephen, BTW the window net is on order with an assortment of decals, perhaps I should have my name painted on the side doors!

There are a bunch in my yard, my 89 RS, my 86 TA, my 82 TA, then the one you see in the back is my old 90 RS i sold, we are fixing to go with a 350 th350 combo, a 92 RS 305 T5 my friend is doing nothing with, cannot talk him outta it, a 87 parts car Z28, and thats it, the 80 mustang is behind a 89 GT which i am in the process of getting rid of, they belong to someone else i know, looks like a junk yard during the day, and a big party at night...

this was the most amazing thread i have read on tgo

by far one of the best street cars ever built, those emblems i thought were going to look wierd but in my opnion the best i have ever seen.

this car is absolutly amazing i really like how you took a car which most people would have junked or parted out.

page by page for the last 2hrs i have waited for the finished product to now have to wait. man that was a bummer.

definitly vamped me up for my restoration about to happen, but my car has no rust or body issues just a tear down for a nice paint job.

now 2 things i have to bash on...all this money and you went with the same used foggy tail lights get brand new ones paint the yellow marker red like below

and the wheels are different than the first pics i saw i defintly like the bolt things on the lip.

i will definitly forward this to gmhp & chp

Here are a few more rear pictures with the fat wheels on! Thanks again John for washing and taking care of the wheel/tire mounting, you've been very helpful!

Porkyzilla, I am either going to polish and clear my rear tailights or replace them, so not to worry still alot to do with the car before it's ready. I actually like the wheels better without the perimeter bolts, I prefer the cleaner look which is why I had them made that way.

Motor parts update: I spoke with the good people at Callies and they will have their Magnum 4.250" stroke crank available in about a month and a half. So, slowly but surely it will come together. I am still researching which piston manufacturer to go with.

that last pic is just great. I wish more than anyhting that I could get my 335s to tuck at all. But then again. I am broke right now. LOL. Someday... hehe. Well great job with it all.

My car is back from the dyno shop and sitting in my garadge. Now the REAL fun bigins. (when the snow melts).

Neil, check my CD site if you wanna see it. Lemme know what you think. The HP #'s will def go up in the near future, so ignore the dyno sheet for now

Somethhing just occured to me...

If the quarters were basically just widened at the rear, with the front sloping towards the original widthe in the front, how was the rear hatch and rear spoiler section handled?

I think I understand that part, but just wanted to be clear.

the hatch was not changed. the outer quarter panel skin was cut loose just outside of the hatch valley area and pulled out, and then the open area that was created was filled with metal, extending the quarters, but leaving the hatch area the same. the center section of his spoiler was left the same, but the 2 side quarter panel pieces to the spoiler were modified to fit the new body line

I quoted another 3gen member with a convertible Z28 a price for the rear extended fender fabrication, relocation of tail lights, repaint, ding and dent repair, rear inner fender modification, all rear mods for fenders, trunk, spoiler, bumper etc at $11k which is a good price and I guess it was too rich for him. Never heard back. Remember that is only 11k for a one of a kind mod! Pretty reasonable in my mind....Neil had some additional work done so all his work was a bit more, but you get the idea.

thats not bad at all imo. i could imagine 200+ hours going into working on it.

yes, includes paint, but not pick up or delivery or the rear suspension mod that Neil previously had done for his other wheels or the rear brackets for his Corvette calipers

Neil I am not sure if you posted it before, but what is the size of those tires?

I can't say I am in the same league as those sweet 335's, but I am running a 305 35 R18 and to tell you the truth the 35 side wall is not cutting it for me. I autocross and take part in the occasional pedal smashing contests, and the 35 side wall in my opinion makes my car one of the best smoke machines I have ever seen. If I had it to do again I think a 40-45 series would fit well and give more performance. Just thought I would pass it along.

Oh Yea almost forgot SWEET RIDE MAN!!!!

I thought the car was supposed to be on the way up there Thursday?

John, I'll have the car finished soon (sometime between this weekend or next). What time are you usually at the shop on Saturdays, if at all? Let me know!

Mike

Guys,

Here are pics of the car on it's road trip to Dallas, it's new home for the remainder of the build! Hope you like the pics. Soon, I'll have pics of the interior progress and of the new tubular K-member installed.

Mike, John did bring the car up Thurs. night!

Scatter out all your 4thgen interior parts, take pics, then start the phase II post.

Phase III should be powertrain and suspension.

Get your butt in gear!!
