i started wet sanding my car(dollar store primer) only to reveal it had a perfect midnight blue met. paint job underneath it. i starting to think it was used in a crime and they primered it up like this to hide it .cuz no body in thier right mind would of did this. i wondered why it was hid in the back of a barn.

try brake fluid. That'll take paint right off, but it doesn't do it super fast. You might get away with just eating the primer off and maybe some of the clear coat if you do it right.
go to ur local automotive store and get aircraft coat remover...spray it on the rag(dont get ur hand it burns like a b****) and wipe it off...i had some primer spraypaint over my sunfade and got some overspray on my paint...came right off
all those sound really scary, did they actually scuff the paint underneath the primer? wax and grease remover may take that crap primer of and not desrtoy the paint that lies underneath.brake fluid and paint stipper is kinda insane sounding too me. i am sure you guys have tried them with luck but it just sound scary
BRAKE CLEANER!!... not brake fluid... Brake clean... It takes primer off no problem but it doesnt take off clear coat... Use that before you try anythign else. Buy a can from like napa... and use it trust me it works wonderins takign primer off.
alot of times when a car is primered its because there is body work somewhere it may have some good paint under it all but ill bet you find the roof or something faded or a body repair
the last owner may have been prepping it for a new paint job
and being its an ohio car ill assume its a rust repair you well end up finding the bad spots sooner or later
you really should go over the car with a magnet 1st
btw you may end up finding that one panel is differant colored then the rest
for example my girlfreinds firebird has a really crappy rattle can red paint job but thats because it has a black hood silver fenders white bumper front and blue rear bumper
but thats the problem getting junk yard body panels pretty rare if you find the correct color
so you end up primering it so you will find the reason why its in primer sooner or later

the same thing just happened to me 2 weekends ago my car has been in black primer sense iv owned it and i got sick of looking at that so went and bought paint when i started to wetsand the primer it just started to wash off (aparently the kid didnt sand the car before putting the primer on it ) and under the primer was a perfect gun-metal gray paint job if i hadnt already bought the new paint id have kept that paintjob sense it was actualy pretty good.
if the paintjob was scuffed or sanded down before priming, it'll be nearly impossable to remove the primer without wetsanding it all off and praying you dont burn through the clear. if a jacko just bombed some spraybomb primer on the car without doing anything to it, chances are lacquer thinner or a basecoat reducer will take it off. lacquer thinner will almost NEVER hurt a OEM paint thats cured for years, but do be leery of lacquer thinner on re-finished vehicles.
