reading this it makes me feel really old. they didn't even have the camaro, not the third, but the first, when i got out of highschool. heck the mustang was still running a 6 back then.
glad to see the younger gen has picked up on them though.
my grand daughter is learing about years and time and she told me that i must be really old because i was born in the first half of the last century.
I'm a sophomore and my firebird is my second car. I've also got a 74 Nova and as of yesterday my parents gave me there to 94 Dodge Shadow (the blue car in the background of the first pic) because the headgasket blew. So ya I'm fifteen and I own three cars
I picked up the bird for $475 not running. Needed a starter and the vats thingy needed to be bypassed. The brakes, speedo, cooling fan, and blower motor didn't work when I got it. Now at least the brakes work. Here's some pics I took this morning.
I am currently a sophomore in high school and own a 350TPI 1988 Trans Am GTA notchback. I don't drive it to school, so nobody but my closest friends even know I have it. I am paying for it myself, and take extreamly good care of it. Even though I dont have tons of cash, It still always gets premo gas and full synthetic oil ALWAYS. I love my baby..
Im 24 now, and i got my first third gen when i was 15, sophmore in highschool. It was a 89 Bandit 2 firebird. still own it today and only has 84,XXXX miles on it. My dad bought it brand new from the dealer in Indiana in 89. it was on from there, i currently own 5 thirdgens, and have bought and sold more than i can count on both hands and feet throught the years.
Yep, I'm a Junior now. And I got 3. (well 1 1/2 now actually cause I parted out my 89 RS, and My 84 z doent have a engine). But I drive my 86 iroc to school Everyday. Bought it last summer. You can even see my Blue Parking sticker in my lower corner of the windshield.
That would be age 16-18, which would be '92-'94, I had a '79 Firebird and a '71 Camaro, but then when I actually did attend high school in '99-'00, I had an '84 Camaro. So yes, I did.

I first bought a 1995 silverado my sophmore year and then I got my 84 z28 last year and I love her its the best I graduate in like 3 weeks and then I can spend all my money on my two toys!!!
I'm a senior now and have had my 92' since late sophmore year. I never drive it to school though. There's a big hole in the convertible top so I don't like driving it much, unless it's sunny and i'm just out cruising top-down.
Bought my 89 firebird In march of this year, I'm in grade 11 and 16. I don't have my full license so I just work on it everyday. Drive it too school (no plates, not even registered) and parked it in the auto shop. Work on it during the week and drive it home friday after school. Good thing I live down the road from school!
got my 89rs about a year ago for a 97 mercury cougar with a blown motor and a hundred bucks. i woulda been in high school but i ws a dumb @$$ and dropped out. when i got her they had painted over the orignal maroon color with flat black spray paint and she had an 84 rear bumper cover on her. had to do a tune up, oil change, put the interior back together and ive been drivin her every sence. right now shes about differnt colors, red, primer, a lil bondo, some surface rust, black (ran outa money) i drove her to louisiana back in feb and she did great (176,xxx on the clock) im in utah right now and im lookin into a couple of towing companies to get her up here so i can start tearin her apart and do a complete restore. im goin to be burried in that car...
Im still in high school about to graduate in like a week and Ive had my T/A since the end of my sophomore year. I rolled my 91 chevy ecsb silvy. Then my uncle gave me a 1989 TURBO dodge Caravan. That thing had so much lag it wasnt even funny. Take off from the stoplight and it was like any other fourbanger then when you just about got to the crosswalk they would both break loose It was awesome. I still hold the longest burnout in the school parking lot with it. From a dead stop both brake and gas to the floor motor just bouncin of the rev limiter let go of brake instant smoke pourin out of one wheel whel Had her goin for the hole length of the parking lot. Had to let off cause the struts were shot and i didn't want to take the turn out of there to fast. That was with 3 people in the van. Month later i blew er up big surprise. IT was silver with TURBO in big letters down the rockers of it (factory sticker). She deffinatly supprised the sh## out of a few ssei's and gtps Wish i would of fixder up.
Then i got my 87 t/a with 70,000 miles for 1,000 it was sitting in this guys lawn that had a 4th gen for sale that had like 280,000 on the clock that i went and looked at. Ended up buying the t/a got it running just in time for the last week of school. I had a cop waiting for me out in the parking lot and he followed me all the way home Talk about sterotypin.
I fixed up the truck and now have the trans parked. Dont even get looked at buy cops and thats a good thing cuz the windshield is cracked pretty bad. And the one head light is tapped in.

Reason: spelins
I got 2 third gens and I am a junior. I have paid in full for both my cars by myself. Although my first real car was a '55 Dodge C1 stake. Paid grand for it then sold it for 5 grand. Hence how I bought my current camaros. Paid 1500 for white one and 2500 for blue one.
my dad was deployed in the Navy a few months before my 16th birthday, so I got to drive his '83 berlinetta for a year. got a lot of tail with that car (mostly because i was one of only 10 kids that got a parking permit that year)
Im a classic mid life crisis now. My '86 trans am is the exact car i would have bought when i was 16 if my parents had said "you can have any new car under $25k" (i was 16 in '86)
Started in 10th with a 4cyl 96 camry that i drove in to the ground. Middle of 11th after looking at over 60 camaros for sale (thats only 3rd gens, I looked at all the f-bodies too).
My father finally found the 87 iroc with 350TPI. Think looked beautiful, 3in tail pipe, original rims, t-tops, maroon paint, red interior with black aftermarket carpeting. Well I could go on but it would take awhile lol.
Anyway picked her up for $2000 and have been working ever since to pay off my father (bills suck lol).
So I'm in my senior year now and graduate in about a month maybe a lil less. Senior week in Oc just around the corner!!! Anyone going?
yea im in high school right now, junior, i just got my 84 z28 a couple weeks ago, she needs a lot of work, but the body and chassis are cherry, and that really counts in michigan...
In 1991 I was a senior. The year my Firebird was built. Didn't have that kind of money to buy new back then... Had a 79'cutty (305-4bbr) Besides the cutty had bench seats > not buckets. Bench seats are A much better asset after a high school dance......

lol do have a photo of the 79 Oldsmobile Cutlass. my brother had a 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix and he was also the class of 1991. that car would never die and it was very luxurious I really miss that car

I will have to try better to get a bigger pic! had to scan an old picture and had problems>>> I wish I still had that car! Bought that car at age 15(1988) with my own money I got from working at 84LUMBER! LOL.... Got them Bench seats in the Regal....

that is a beauty you had and I wish my bother kept his too. but he enlisted into the army and sold the car.
my brothers Gold 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix was a big land yacht (he is 6 foot 5 inches) it had bench seats, 3 on the tree, big V8, gas cap behind the license plate and chrome bumpers that was class.
i am a sophmore in high school. i got my license the day before halloween and i bought my black 87 gta in december. its had a few problems since then with the engine but besides that, this car is perfect for my life right now. one of my friends mom used to have a 84 t-top and my car reminds her of hers. im pretty sure i have the fastest car in my class, all 1200 of us, but a few seniors have some pretty heavily modified 944s and one kid has a E30m3 that does around 12s with spray. now im at the critical decision to choose either creature comforts (revamp the audio in it) or go for more power and performance.
I got my first 3rd gen my Junior year (1992). It was a white 1982 Z28 with T-Tops, auto, 305 Q-Jet. I got it as a Christmas present that year but while I was out for break it went in the shop for a new 350 transmission. I told all my buddies the next week at school that I had gotten a Z28 for Christmas but they thought I was full of BS. That was the longest 2 weeks of my life. Nobody believed me.
Then on a friday my dad picked me up in it at school. I told everyone "see I told ya'll I had a Z28" I can still see the look of shock on their faces. Spent all weekend cleaning her up. Come that monday the girls went crazy and my buddies were pissed off. Sadly my senior year a drunk driver hit me head on and destroyed her. My dad got me another Z28 after that. A 1985 Z28. I still have it to this day and now it goes to car shows after I finished it up in 2006.
My son loves my car so much we got him a one owner all orginal Blue 1985 Z28 T-Top 5-speed Camaro. I told him it has to stay with me until I feel he's ready for it. I don't want him wrecking it so he'll drive his mom's car. He's only 13 now.

I got my 86 Camaro my first year in high school as my fist car. Bought it off my dad with 70,000 miles on it. First day i ever got to parkl at school i had the t-tops off and everyone just stared. Every one else in the lot has their brand new suv's and all so i was one of a kind throughout. I graduated just today and i still got plenty of looks when i smoked em all the way out in front of the whole senior class =P. I dont think my pricipal ever liked me much.

Im a senior and my graduation is friday. I didn't need to come so i just skipped the last few days of school (today and tomorrow) but i forgot to do my end of the year burnout :/. Maybe i'll drive up there tomorrow for the half day and just light it up.
i had two third gen trans ams in high school, got a v-6 camaro for a v-8 swap that i bit way more of then i could chew. and finialy 2 years later have the iroc i was tryin to get the whole time. i do regret gettin rid of the 2nd t/a, it was really nice and everybody was mad at me for gettin rid of it. out of the 4 3 of them are t-tops and i love it, just got the iroc and it needs work but i traded it for the 78 malibu i had and 500 bucks and i dont regret it at all just glad to be back in the third gens again. havnt decided if i wanna restore the visible stuff on the car like the interior and the body and then do some really sweet w/ the motor like lt1 or ls1 swap and make the suspension handle really good so its a really sweet sleeper that everybody assumes is stock or what, any ideas would help if anybody wants tho throw in some ideas.
Bought my 92 RS when I was a sophmore in 98 making me the second owner. She was my first car and cool enough, 11 years later, I still have her. Shes changed a bit from the 305 700R4 she once was. People seem to reminisce about their first cars so with that in mind, I'm planning on not letting her go. My best friend loved the style and our junior year traded his old sunbird convertible for an 89 fire red GTA. He still has that one too.
My 1st 3rdgen was when i was 16. My dad Surprised me with it late at night when he came home from work. He called home and told my mom to wake me up and to go outside. And there it was... a white hardtop 87 iroc-z that was freshly washed, lol. One of the Best days of my life.

To Sparks427: If you have the means, the LS1 swap is a great way to go. We did that on my dads 92 convertible zo3 (polo green, tan top) and talk about a sleeper. The doner was a wrecked 02 SS. No need to shorten the driveshaft and the sixspeed is a marvel. Just my 2 cents.
Hey thanks guys! I'm new at posting stuff and hopefully will get some pics online. The pic shown is a little old, as I put in some 1967 parking lights to work as fog lights (that ol reach out to the past since shes a 25th anni.) KITT: that is an amazing TA. I didn't know there was a daytona series, how many of those did they make?

I got my first 2nd gen a few years ago, 85 camaro (a few years after high school ), it only had a 305 in it but it was quick, just didnt like the cold mornings... now, i just got my second one, 92 rs 25th ann..... still workin on it before it hits the road!!! Debating on putting a 350 TBI in it before it hits the asphalt
I got my 86 trans am my sophmore year. nothing special lg4 700r4 2.73gears t-tops. it had 204k on the clock at the time red/grey interior some clear pealing but it had the bird on the hood thats all that mattered!! i made tons of memories in that car the time i drove it through school sadly it was short lived about midway through my jr year the original motor blew and i slowly began pulling it apart and i got it running for awhile in my senior year untill the transmission went out...anyway i still have it and i always will but for now it sits under a cover in my moms back yard with no interior motor or trans. about a year after i graduated i bought my second complete thirdgen (had a 85 parts car for awhile) i bought it from my fiances ex brother inlaw for $500 and its my 82 ta hardtop crank windows manual locks ect. its becoming more of my street strip car. i also had a 98 camaro for awhile but it just wasnt the same.
Just graduated wednesday, had my 1983 z28. Definately wasnt stock, 5.0 with an edelbrock 4 barrel, accell hei distributor, leaky manifold on the driverside (couldnt get the bolts off either, seized into the heads) with a 3 speed auto and a TC that locked at 1000 rpm. Great first car though, had some good times. Sounded like a racecar when you slowed down just engine braking. Oh, open diff and automatic, bad for sandy roads (and this was september!!!)
oh, and iroc rims with the rear window louvers that rattled when you hit potholes. yay for massachusetts roads.
