Man,this thread makes me feel old.My car in highschool was a 79 z-28.My older brother was the first one to own a third gen in the family. That car didn't last long.It was an 82 with the 4-banger.I think he bought it just because the front seats reclined.Yeah,he had a couple of girlfriends back then, end of that story.
always was thirdgen crazy in highschool....came from a ford family(my grandfather owns a dealership) so everyone despised me wanting a chevy...got my jewel on my 18th birthday and was also a graduation present...that was the best day of my life.
Got my GTA when I was 15, with no license, and I payed for my own car through cutting grass. I have fixed it up so much stuff on my car, it is unbelievable. I have tried to keep it original, but the previous owner put in a CD player, and that kind of made me mad. But, next year I will be a Senior, and will have the fastest car at school.
Just a list on top of my head that I have done to it.
New front right wheel
New driver side window motor
New front struts
New front suspension (bushings, tie rods, etc.)
New SB 355 Engine
New inner door handle
New passenger side fog light( as it was missing it)
New turn signal lever
There is more than that, those are on top of my head
What it needs:
headlight motors
hood and hatch struts
rear shocks
rear bumper cover needs a paint job as it is faded pretty bad on the corners
a couple of little things I won't bother you with
Junionr year... Started with a truck. 88 1500 chevy. Hunk of crap.
Every penny of the car besides an oil change is all from my back pocket... Worked all summer scooping ice cream to buy the truck. Traded the truck for the car. I made the right choice.

Reason: Just because
Got my thirdgen 3 years ago when I was in grade 10 for $275CDN. The day I bought it I cleaned the interior, which took 8 days of washing each day to finally get semi-decent. Then she sat for 3 years. About 2 months ago I began working STEADY on it, and I got 'er to school on the very last day. Not of full classes, but report card pick-up day when ALL the kids were there. I had the fastest car with the stock 5.0 V8, which resulted in many phone numbers. I hate shallow chicks.

But yeah, hard work pays off.
Oh i know what you mean by the 8 day cleaning.... Mine had a gross stale smell... inch think of dirt it seemed. Dust... stains everything... Everything you took out revealed more...
I had one but, I couldn't drive it, it was a rolling chassis, I could never get an engine or trans (on top of a bunch of other stuff) for it... I ended up saving most of the usable parts & scrapping it.
But, next year I will be a Senior, and will have the fastest car at school.
wish i could say that my self but my best friend is the fastest in our school with his T-61 MKIV Supra even i had a 350 TPI, he would still get me........ damn rich kids

SOON LSx/T-56 swap If I get the money !
Yeah, I just got out of high school thank god. I drove it the first three days and the ******* next to me opened a ****ing door into it and put a dent in it damn kids! So I had to drive my truck everyday to keep it safe, double parked a good 99% of the time because I was at the end, and I still got a few hits, thank god it just marked it up. So I didn't take it till the last day and left some nice rubber around
That was a little bit of a rant, but yeah, I had it in high school and not a single person would tell you it wasn't the nicest car there.
I got my first third gen my 10th grade year... a 1985 SC camaro, 2.8 MPFI. Worked on it and then traded for a 1990 Silverado witha 350 TBI. But sold that and this year is my senior year and i just bought a 1987 Iroc-Z, 305 TPI. and thats my current thirdgen.

got my first thirdgen last year...had 2 many problems and not enough money to fix them..ended up getting scrapped..heading into my senior yr(12) got this one and its almost perfect(just need a v8 lol)
I had an 87 Sport Coupe back in 1990.. was still in school then. Had quite a few since then.. saw the old car 2 years ago with a young girl driving it.. tried to follow her but by the time I had turned around she was gone. I'd buy i back if I could Damn I still have the original wheels off the car sitting in the barn. lol
I bought my 3rd gen right as I was getting done with my sophomore year. It is still the best car on the lot. I have left quite a bit of blackies across the lot too. lol
[quote=KBcobra;3397705]i'm in highschool graduate in 2009, i got my camaro when i was 15 before i got my license. lol shes my baby
/QUOTE]
same story with me bought my RS for 600 bucks, back when I was 15 even before I had my permit, drove it evrday to school, couple months after I graduated I bought my Iroc, and sold the RS
Well... I dont have a licence yet, only a Permit. I just turned 17 last Saturday 7/7 and I got my 3rd gen in February and sold it the day berfore my birthday on 7/6. Im gonna be a Senior in September. Hope to have another Thirdgen soon... Got my 92 RS in Feb. My dad allowed me to trade his 90 Wrangler for it. I got it easy on that one.
i bought my first third gen about a month before i left highschool. 1987 IrocZ28 305 carb 700r4 one wheel spin WHAT A DOG. as slow as it was the girls loved that car. i got more a$$ in that car then my friend did in his then new 93 Z28. go figure sometimes it pays to be crazy rather then rich
I wish! I graduated in '88 (old guy!!!!). Mine was just arriving at the dealers!!!
Had to wait till '99 to buy it off the original owner. Wish he would have just given it to me since he never drove it anyway!!!
I had to catch the damn public city busses throughout high school. I bought a $500 Dodge Spirit in 2002 after school Thats ok though, before I went to Iraq in 05, I bought a low mileage 99 Z28. That got totalled out, and I eventually bought a 87 F-Bird for $500, sold it, bought a 1990 for $1200 as well as a 98 LS1 Formula for $5500. Im happy now, but cant drive both at the same time
I got my little 305 rs during summer before sophmore year, sold it at the end of my junior year. Now im working two jobs trying to save up money for something a lot faster....everybody wants a sick car their senior year. I still miss the RS though.
I Bought my 1990 formula after sophomore year to fix up until I got my license. Now I've got my 89 GTA that I'm restoring, hopefully to be done before my senior year starts
i bought mine early my senior year, and had to fix almost everything and change the plugs every weekend cause it would foul the back 2 real bad, its was a lot of fun back then, it was a good car to learn to drive with cause the backend was a little slippery and it helped me learn how to control that, and got me interested in cars, its still eating my money, but its a killer car now.

I got my Hunk of crap Fresh year. 800$, it sat.. until i registered it and made my mom drive it to my school.
We threw a MAF and gave it an oil change, it sat until i got my permit.. i drove it all the time, got my license and been driving it ever since.. SUCH AS IT IS! lol
I suppose it hasnt been that bad back and forth to the Nissan dealership i work for, it needs injectors and a exhaust, and hydraulics for the tranny but.. shes my baby
I got my 82 Trans Am the end of my sophmore year before I even had my license. I kept it until about halfway through my senior year...what a great car.
drove the car i'm driving now in highschool. got it 3 months before i graduated senior year...i paid for most of it, the rest was like a senior grad present lol
i first had a pontaic grand am that i totalled thanks to hydroplain and a guard rale... parted it out bought my 91 camaro rs had a v6 3.1. had it for the last month of high school everone loved it even though it was a 6. and now last winter i put a 350tpi, 700r4 trans with a shift kit in it and got her repainted. seen a few friends and they think its a different car even though its the same color. can't wait for the 5 year reunion, ill have some more done by then =D. i paid every dime for both cars and to this day still am
Been in my family since 2001. My dad couldn't keep it anymore, So I bought it in 2006 in december, I got my license in January and It was my 10th grade yeah. Now I am going to be a junior and graduate in '09. Things couldn't be better!

I had my car since november of last year, my senior year. and well shes almost done and i'll have some pics on monday with the re-finished rims and everything =)
Well lets see, I'm still in my first car, which I bought when I was a junior in high school (Feb 05). Bought it from my aunt. It had been sitting for about a year. Had mouse turds and crap all in it, baby wipes and junk...gum stuck on the center console, pretty crappy. I gave her $500 down and she let me pay her the other five hundred in payments whenever I could.
Put a battery in her, took her home and spent forever cleaning her, bought some cheap chrome exhaust tips and drove it to school the next day. It was great, people were like, "who's Trans Am is that out there?" MINE! Then after fixing a bunch of problems and it leaving me stranded once or twice, I decided to try to go drifting on a gravel road. Well I ended up down a huge ditch into a small tree. Lol. After school was out I spent all summer with my dad doing a small restoration I guess you could say. After I came back everywhere I went I got compliments ALL the time. I was leaving school one day and some woman was yelling at me from the sidewalk, haha.
Well less than a year after paint and stuff, this dumba$$ bish just ran into me in the school parking lot. That just pretty much ruined it. Everyone was like "holy shlt" It's been over a year and I'm just now getting around to fixing that and making it super nice. Ive spent WAYYY too much money on it the last few months. Atleast it was nice for my senior pics. My main senior pic everywhere is the one with my car, lol. Well here's pics... first is right after I got it and cleaned it up...2 is after I tried drifting...and 3 Is how it looked after paint with my dad, before the dumb girl hit me.
I had my first 3rd gen the summer after i graduated highschool, it was an 86 z-28 painted cobalt blue with trans am rims. I loved it but only had it for a month before a cop car hit me and totaled it, i was pissed to say the least.
Junior Year, turned 17 and bought my Trans Am. Stock Engine and did; Open element air filter, took the screen out of the MAF, bypassed the throttlebody with the coolant hose, had a AFPR, bumped up timing, Removed ALL emissions stuff, removed A/C, 160 Termo, and a Jet chip and I was running a high 13 with bald tires on a 100k 305TPI. Keeping up with the Seniors LS1's and Cobras back in 2002. Those were some good memories.
I bought mine early in my senior year (Sept 06, wasn't even that long ago.) and made a lot of great memories in/with it. I remember pulling up to my homecomming date's house in it and making her dad go . It was definitly the fastest car in the lot too, at least untill one kid's parents bought him an STi as an early graduation prestent. I laid some nice rubber marks on the last day too. But, is there anyone who had a fast car in high school that didn't?
I graded in 1989 so I couldn't afford my Iroc back then. I drove a beat up 1970 Plymouth Duster (six-cyl, manual steering, manual brakes, four wheel drum Brakes) it was probably better that I didn't have The Iroc back then. I might not be here today due to my lead foot in high school. (I managed to get that duster up to 95mph on it's four retreads once)
It wasn't until thirteen years ago when I saw my Iroc on the local ford Lot and traded my 86' GMC pickup for it.

Yeah I talked to you about your car. Seems like a lot of younger folks in here like having american cars, which is hella sweet. I'm sick of seein rich *** kids drivin their BRAND NEW SRT4 where all they have to do is buy a turbo and install... They don't even know how to control their boost.
But yeah dude my car looks as good as yours does (or did i guess) just a different, less awesome color :l
oh and people, instead of sayin trans am (like they used to) everywhere i go people are like "nice camaro dude!" haha
My first car . Bought it sept. '05 for a case of beer , had my license in october and still goin to auto mechanic school with 343k on the odometer . Rock On !
drove the car i'm driving now in highschool. got it 3 months before i graduated senior year...i paid for most of it, the rest was like a senior grad present lol
About the same story as me, i picked up my current car towards the end of senior year. Its been a good car, miss the good ol days with it. Now it has no back seats, no real creature comforts and is illegal as hell! . Im still such the dumb kid i was then...
I live in the area with a lot of rich kids who drove new WRXs, Lexus, new stangs, bmws...my car was probably one of the quickest i wouldnt say the fastest. Two of my friends totaled there cars racing...one of them passed away from the wreck that was a sad day.
got my car before christmas break of sophomore year.. finished the resto and build and had my first taste of raw power the ending of summer right before senior year.. then i blew up the posi my first time at the track on my very first run.. got a 9" and a g-force trans and ran a 14.6 @ 10X.xx(dont remember the mph) in pure street trim.. the month after that, bolted on a set of old 26x8.5 slicks and ran a 12.76 @106, missing 4th gear and blew up the motor on the third pass.. and blah blah blah, 2 years later, i'm here now..

I just finshed the 9th grade and its a 92 z28 (in the sig) have had it since the summer before 9th grade my dad helped pay for it. got it from a family friend. Its in GREAT shape. I will never sell it.
Right on...there are some good stories here. I got my formula 350 during the tail end of junior year in 95. So I had her during all of my senior year and had no problem with being one of the quicker cars but once again damn rich kids did have some hefty competition to throw my way!! Anyhow I got her with 126,000 miles on her then not 2 days after the trany gives out and then a few months later the heads give out and forced me to save and with a little help I was able to rebuild the motor. It was nice having a strong tpi aluminum headed motor around that time. There wasn't much that could take me especially when if they kept up with me till 3rd gear then bye bye Well enough of me
