Seam Welding for added body strength?

I am installing some UMI SFCs and at the same time redoing the complete underbody of my TA.

With the underbody all cleaned up, I am thinking about doing some additional seam welding to improve the uni-bodies strength. What my thoughts are is to add some 3" strip welds to the front and rear seams where the 4 part-frame rails are currently spot welded to the main body.

Has anyone done this before? Better ideas?

Re: Seam Welding for added body strength?

Stitch welding the seams, especially on pre-90 cars, certainly wouldn't hurt, and be of some benefit.

I'd love to stitch weld every seam I could reach, including pulling the carpet out, top and bottom, inside and out.

What about the Players Series race cars, anyone have info on what / where stitch welds are performed?
