'92 Camaro hatch problems

I've went through this message board and I couldn't find anything that would help me with my problem. I shut my hatch with some sheets of underlayment in it. It shut but, when I opened it back up, it stopped working. It does have the automatic release button, which isn't working. When it shut with the boards inside, it pulled itself down one side shut completely, and the other side didn't. Now I can't get my hatch to shut at all. It doesn't even attempt to stay shut. It appears to have some sort of catching problem, but then again it doesn't even try to pull itself down. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

Re: '92 Camaro hatch problems

One more thing if I need to get a new part for it, does anyone know of a way to make it stay shut for the night?

sound like the latch is locked but not on the hatch. have someone hit the button while opening the latch claws with a screwdriver or something.
