i used to live in ohio, which is how we know Brent (evoluzione1) and why we were at teh summit show where that other member snapped those pics. We have since moved to Minnesota. Twin Cities area.
we are actually going to paint the t tops the same color we paint the car, so it will look like a hard top, but its really still a t top...like this:
ha. funny you should mention. My dad got a speeding ticket back in ohio...something like 82ish in a 70. When the cop was all done with the ticket and everything...he kinda looked at my dad before returning to the car..and was like...What is this thing anyways?
Yea, cops don't know what it is just like most o fthe world
Funny thing is, the license plate would come back "1988 Chevrolet Camaro...John Doe....No wants, no warrants" The cop is looking at the ?Ferrarri", thinking, "Camaro? Stolen plates, on a Ferrarri?" Totally confused now!
very true. hopefully we wont get into that situation. but still funny. we are insuring it as a hand built vehicle at a stated value, so i dont know what the plates will show the car is when looked up in "the system"
If it is registered as hand/home-built, the registration shouldn't reflect the Camaro beginnings. Not 100% sure about your state, but you'd be OK here in Texas.
Well, you better not take the chance.... I'll just trade ya my 2 GTAs, so you don't hafta worry about that, seeing as how I'm such a nice guy, and all.
im glad you asked i was going to say something about that im sure they could come in handy. shoot me a P.M. with address info and what you would like for them thanks.
awesome...glad to see you're not cutting corners, this thing will be amazing (although I'd be weary of driving on wheels with an 8" lip...especially on Minnesota roads)
I'd love to see it in person some day, as I live right in Dinkytown
yea man, we are down by mystic lake casino. you can come see it if you want. obey, i'll talk to my old man and see what he wants for the handles. prolly nothing more than shipping but dont quote me on that. i'll let you know soon.
Wow, I just checked this thread out since I am on the computer and not working on my car tonight..but damn your car is very cool! I have never seen anything like this before other than a Ferrari or Lambo. Kudoz, nicely done and keep up the good work. I would like to see this in person as well!

So why post then?
***** would be adding a spoiler on the nose and rear of a thirdgen, some vinyls and doing NOTHING else.
This is a kit car, and when finished hardly anyone not in the know can tell its a thirdgen f-body. The only real way to tell is the a-pillar line and even that could be changed.
this thread has been clean and non offensive up until now. Let's keep it that way please. I don't vocalize my negative opinions on internet forums, so I kindly ask that you keep discussion on our car clean. I knew I was taking a gamble putting it up here in the first place. If you don't like the lines or looks of the car, feel free to let me know politely, and give me a couple reasons why so I can possibly change the shapes or contours to make it even better.
don't worry about other peoples opinion's on here. If it is what you like that is all that matters. Myself I like it I think you are doing a hell of a job on it. Keep up the good work.

you might end up if you are not nice and on that note,
wa wa wa cry all you want, its nice to see people that want to go the extra mile for that unique look, so if you dont like it shut up and move on. Evoluzione i like it keep up the good work.
i don't like evolutions, sorry. i find them to be "ricers" the arch enemy of the American muscle car builder. should have left it a camaro, im my opinion. i like the third gen look any ways. thats the whole purpose of owning a third gen anyways. when you make it into some kit car, your taking the third gen out of the third gen. i will say that you are putting alot of work into the project and for your sake i hope it turns out well. this is just my opinion which i am entitled to, i don't want to get flamed.
i try not to be retalitory, but I do have to say one thing that bugs me, and it's not that people bash on our car, because you are entitled to your opinion, but what bugs me is when it's called *****. It is an Italian super car inspired design, not in any way influenced by the Asian market, which is most commonly referred to as the "*****" type of car. So if you wish to inslut the vehicle, please do so properly. Call it something like "Italian garbage." Idk. That would at least be accurate.
And again, dad saw the car in a magazine and said "I want that car." Not, "I want that third gen with a body kit." It just so happens in order to get "that car" you had to put it on a thirdgen. (I should put that in my sig )
Anywho. I think this thread is retired for now.
Dad has hired me to finish the car, so I'll post build pics as they come about under new threads. Talk to you all then
isnt this car being modeled after a mitsubishi lancer evolution, which is an asian car? please correct me if im wrong but i didnt think it was italian. that red car does look cool.
here are three pictures...you let me know what you think, ad.
lancer evolution (asian market)
our car:
ferrai twin turbo testarossa (italian market):
which do you think it most closely resembles? The only thing that is possible R i cer about it would be the headlights, that resemble the headlights from an eclipse, but they arent.
not the same car. i stand corrected. what is the car that you are going for, who makes the original? when i hear evo the lancer evolution comes to mind. i wasnt aware that there was another evo besides that. im not really up on foreign car knowledge much. i see a camaro, firebird, chevellle, nova, corvette ,monte carlo or any other american car i can usually tell them apart from a distance. but when it comes to foreign cars im sometimes lost, except for classics like the Porsche 911 carrera, Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari Testarossa, and lotus esprit.
The Evoluzione IS an original, not based on an OEM body of any maker. There is no "original". The Evoluzione is not a replica of anything, rather an Italian inspired evolution of an American car.
I dont mean to be the one to spoil the fun here but.... this doesnt seem to be third gen related.... kinda suprised a moderator hasnt shut this down yet

HMMM??? It's still a 3rd gen chassis, driveline, suspension. No reason to even consider shutting it down.
I guess tubbed, cowl hooded, aluminum interior 3rd gens, shouldn't be allowed on here either. After all, they share little more than the Evoluzione does.
Not exactly Evoluzion, but the Evolution name of this nose kit, made me think of this thread...Talk about solving any cooling issues, on a Pontiac nose! Throw an Intercooler behind there for a turbo...
I wonder if the Evoluzion kit could utilize grilles like those, if it needed them for cooling?
Well, I cant wait to see how it comes out. I am thinkgin of getting another thirdgen to modify the body on, but the one I have now is staying as is...sort of. If they still made these kits I would buy one, but oh well. Maybe someone else will start making something similar.
It's been a while. Glad to see some pics of the car. Looking good and you guys look to be making all the right mods. Love the widening of the front, great idea. Keep on posting.
i can't say i personally like it. it looks alot like a mitsu spider BUT I do admire the massive work and man hours! no it does not look rice. It's not really a third gen anymore. it's a custom car built from the bottom up. I hate body work so in that area you are the man! Not my tatse but who am i? hey two thumbs up!!
when i seen the first pictures i was thinking why the hell is this car on this site then a few pictures later i realized it was a third gen i am amazed personally i think those headlights should be different but its not my car anyway that is some good work keep it up cant wait to see paint
No, mine's not for sale. Haven't worked on it since I got the LT1 running though. Daughter smashed her car and that turned into more of a restoration project side lining my car. A couple more weeks and the Evo will come out of the barn.
So let me get this straight it is a Camaro chassis etc.??
Where did you get that body from? From what I've read they don't make em anymore? When you going to be done with that thing?
That is a sweet looking "body kit". That doesn't even do it justice. Those tail lights look really sweet, I think that they compliment the restyled rear end very well, definatly an improvement over stock.
Did I see Corbeu CR1s as the seats??? If so, those look like the exact ones I have in my GTA. Very nice
Hope everything goes smoothly and it comes out as nice as it promises to.
BTW, not to be picky, but the Ferrari you posted is the twin turbo v8 F40:
This is a Testarossa:
Actually you're both wrong. The Ferrari pic Evoluzione2 posted was that of a V12 Twin Turbo Koenig Testarossa. Koenig is a German tuning company that offered various modifcations to a stock Testarossa.
I own a evo as well and would love for it to sound a little different. What is a flat plane crank?
Its basically a indy style or 4 banger style crank. The rods are symmetrical in a flat pattern rather than a cross pattern like a 350 or most other American muscle. Its what give the Italian cars there high pitched sound. Finding a flat pattern crank, cam and proper firing setup for an American v8 motor would be hard.
I would give my left nut and donate my right for that body kit....Im assuming you got that some time ago since the company stopped making those a few years ago.....your are a lucky man with one hellofa badass project
