Has anyone ever replaced their T-Top & Door Weatherstripping on an 82 or similar T/A? I'm looking to get new weatherstrips, but I want to know if I just peel the seals off, or if there's a few tricks to doing this before I pull the old ones off.
Re: Anybody Replaced T-Top & Door Weatherstripping?
GM I think discontinued these, but you can get gm quality from Hawks. I did mine, just be ready to find rust under the seals. also the only trick I think I found out was go slow and get the tabs on the weatherstripping under the tabs on the car (for Ttops, thats all I did)

to glue them down go to your local parts store and get weatherstripping adhesive. to remove the leftover adhesive I used acetone, but first pull the old weatherstripping off by hand.

Re: Anybody Replaced T-Top & Door Weatherstripping?
Good luck finding weatherstrip adhesive remover at a parts store. I had to go to a Sherwin Williams automotive paint store and pay $20/can for the 3M stuff. At any rate, best advice I can give is make sure you get 100% (and I mean 100%) of the old stuff off.
Re: Anybody Replaced T-Top & Door Weatherstripping?
Just a heads up to anybody looking to buy GM weatherstripping. I just bought the GM stuff from my local dealer and paid $119 for one side and $123 for the other side. That was for the TTop weatherstripping. I haven't located any aftermarket companies that provide a quality rubber for $242. Always look to the dealer first to see if the parts are still available and at reasonable prices.
Re: Anybody Replaced T-Top & Door Weatherstripping?
Just pray that your T-Top center bar isn't rusted out like a lot of cars out there, they can be pricey to find a good one. I know Advance Auto used to sell the T-Top, door, and hatch seals. I bought my door and hatch seals from them, but I found the T-Top seals from someone on here. The price was decent and the quality was good. They were A&M soffseal.
