How big is the display unit? And how big is the screen on it?
You'll hafta give us a review of the unit, as to how you like it, life of it, how heavy those things are & any problems getting the wheels balanced, any problems, etc.

they look like factory TPMS units that come on 2007 and up cars
wow big turn out haha. ok i got like 5 questions i'm gona answer them all at once so read on.
1. the sensors are powered by a lithium battery and are constanly on. they should be good for 7years. then you just replace the battery i think.
2 . the screen display is the size of a business card. if you look at the picture you can compare it to the size of the power switches in my console.
3. yes its pretty much very similar to the tpms kits that are in 07 cars and up. but this kit is made for older cars. most of the newer cars are made per make and model and can't be messed with. And they balanced my tires in like 2 seconds no big deal.
ALSO.... this kit also displays the temperature for each tire.
one thing to know. the unit display plugs in your cig. lighter socket. so its always on. i just started using it theres no on/off switch and im not sure how it will affect the battery if left on all night
i hard wired a aftermartket kit that has 3 lighter sockets and cut off the old oxdized one. and it has a switch on it
this also powers my computer screen. so when i get in the car i just flick the power switch for the lighter sockets
for everyone else either hard wire the display unit or...... un plug it when you park.
i'll keep the review coming if i notice anything else but any more questions keep them coming.
also with all the electronic gadgets i have in the car now.
i installed my self a alarm system. it has a remote. if either door is open the alarm horn goes off.
im going to be using mercury switches for the trunk and hood.
it even has the option that i used to pop my trunk. its great.
the alarm goes on for 2 mins and shuts off. but with teh remote i can turn it off immediately if i forget to disarm it before i open the door
and this week im installing a neat security gadget. its a key pad and reminds me of the back to the future key pad.
basically you wire into the ignition key wire. and you push a 4 digit code and it will complete the circuit so when you turn the key it allows you to start the car.
theres also a schematic for a toggle switch you can hide to override the system incase one day it breaks or you dont wana use it.
i appreciate it. keep checkin in on the thread. im going to be updating it soon for all the security additions but after that i'm going to just enjoy the car. so theres gona be a little bit of a break for newer pics because theres nothing more to take pictures of haha. but theres always soemthing else i jsut wana enjoy it for now.

im looking for a 1982 trans am shifter stick stem (vertical button style not t-handle). the thing under the button that pushed down the lever inside so you can shift.
if you got one let me know.
the one i got works but theres a tiny little notch that sticks out to keep the pontiac logo on the button staight and also so you cant just take the whole thing out it has a shfter ring in place. well mine broke off so the button on top swivels all over.
I like the louver look. i know most hate the half metal half plastic but i got a good deal and it had all the hindges. as long as im cool with it ya know.
but if i ever get another thirdgen i'll look into the rear tint. thanks for the idea torque i sent you a pm about the hidden lisence plate let me know if u need anything else.

I found a mint 1982 knight rider round shifter with stem for $50 on a forum
You will have to modify your shifter. Unless you have a th200 3 speed automatic, then you are all set.
Looks good. Good buy too. I paid almost $100 more 5 years ago for what looks basically like the same system. If the pressure monitor is like mine, you may want to look into wiring in an on/off switch sooner rather than later. If not for battery drain, but for the fact that when it starts beeping because of low tire pressure, there is no way to turn the damn beeping off! It will beep until the pressure is back within range. So even if your pressure is just 1lb below the range (say little low but not an imminent danger) the beeping, at least for me was incredibly annoying after about 3 minutes.
It should be on a dedicated battery hardwire and not ignition because again you wouldn't be able to shut it off while driving if the alarm goes off and it is wired to an ignition source.
thanks kitt1983 but i already have the entire knight rider shifter asseembly and then the little notch broke off. if i have to to spend more than 15 bucks then ill live with my broken shifter stem.

Thanks for the link, but I didnt type too clearly. I meant the small keypad that you type in a code, in order to start your car. Sorry, I typed it mis-leading.
once mine is installed ill post pics. since the one on their site is not the same i have. mine has more digits and is square i guess its discontinued sry guys.

perhaps you could make a delay setup by using a 555 timer.
Though I don't know how that would work with your switch.

In TPMS listings, I see some kind of "activation" tool. Was this a 100% stand alone product? NO other parts needed?
I'm about to put new tires on all 4 corners, so nows the time to do this, if I'm going to.

the item itself comes with everything you need. 4 sensors and the display
just plug in the display and have the tire place install the sensors
and ive noticed after driving the pressure from each tire changes by like 1-2lbs. im not sure if the temperature of the tire affects the pressure inside with more heat expanding rubber maybe i have no ida i just notice one tire could read 33lbs when i first turn it on and then after driving for a little be could read 34 or 35lbs.
its still a great item for a reference and looks really cool. i dont regret getting it.

I dig that TPMS. Alittle pricey...probably best to do if you are getting new tires or having yours dismounted for some reason. Then youre already paying for the labor anyway.

Do you tell it what the acceptable range is for your given tires? Or does it just use a general number... Because you could always tell it you are supposed to have 77psi...then at 40 it would read low. You probably dont "calibrate it" or tell it what the pressure ranges are anyway....just a thought.

Yes. As the tire heats up from driving, so will the air inside. Hot air expands. So if you expand X amount of air, inside a fixed cubic feet area, the pressure will increase.
Perfectly normal.

I had a thought that goes back to something you said about the display. You said that it will display red if the pressures get too low. The display reads 0-77psi according to the description. The 0-77psi is just what the sensors are capable of reading.
ha id love red led display all the time but it does display red led when the tire pressure is low
goes back to green when ur in the safe factory range

But how does it know what the "safe factory range" is... I mean...10psi might be too low for some tiers, but WAY too low for other tires. So is there a way to set the "too low" limit? Because you could trick it into always thinking it was too low, keeping the lights red all the time. Like I said..it was just a thought...I dont know anythinga bout the unit.

"Normal, green alerts change to red to signify temperature/pressure concerns
High pressure warning level can be set between 40 and 60 psi
Low pressure warning level can be set between 18 and 35 psi"
If the low pressure warning could go from 18-50, it would be possible. Unless you run your tires at 35psi. Then this might work to keep the numbers red. Might have to disable that audible alarm depending how it works.

Response from the TPMS manufacturer.....
"This tire valve cap will fit on standard tire stem. TPMS tire stem is bigger than standard tire stem."
That means I can't. The TPMS stem is bigger. Hmmmm....Second thought....What about airing them up? If a standard cap won't fit, will a standard air hose fit?

Maybe run the High Pressue cap? Mine run at 44psi recommended, so maybe at 40, the letters would turn red? Run 40 instead of 44?
LOL...I didnt even think about the high pressure side turning the numbers red. haha. Good call... That might work. Maybe Bobby_80s can give that a try.

i added a pilot early season 1 knight rider bumper
sanded it and painted in a week. i tried a cheaper scanner light. not happy with it at all
so i got a better kit and it will be bright bright leds with a remote and sound effects with an extrnal speaker gona take 2-3 weeks before i get it and ill post pics when its installed
and i still need to install grills and turn signal blackouts
i added a pistol grip e-brake handle, i like the rare style
also i was so tired of my sun visors sagging and velcro was a cheap n bad fix didnt work, so i spent 10bucks on ebay for a bushing kit and 10mins later my sun visors are back to factory new.
the picture compares the old bad bushing with the new one

i got the bumper for 300 bucks its originally 800. its a mold from the pilot bumper/early 1st season.
the guy bought it and didnt realize it needed body filler work.
he tried to sell it 2 times or more on ebay for 600 and no bites. i asked questions and showed interest. after he couldnt sell it on ebay he offered it to me and i jumped at it.

also the scanner thing is a mess. i went with the cheaper one and its not even close and nowhere near bright enough. then i bought a bright led one online that this guy makes a custom bent frame and everything but i didnt want his basic speed controller.
tehn i find a site with a scanner and remote controlled module with sound effects once connected to a speaker for the scanner and other stuff.
since i alredy paid for a scanner elsewhere im just buying the control module from lectric enterprise
should of jsut got the whole kit from enterprises but didnt find it until i boguht a scanner first
but its just a mess and i gota wait from both guys to make them. they make by the order. so in 2 weeks or so i should have them, figners crossed
i admit i had to fabricate to make this bumper work, but i like this early style over the later styles. esp. those ugly ones that are very long and pointy.
yea my only word of caution with buying a beater. depending on how much u wana spend will never amount to what you will spend trust me haha
granted i saved thousands on doing the labor myself. i still spent a few grand over the course of 3 yrs and just got lucky that it already came with a strong healthy enough engine that it just needed some TLC.
if i had to do it over again i would of saved hundreds on not buying the cheap stuff because i bought the cheap stuff for whatever it was and hated it and eventually went and bought the more expensive version of that item. over and over. tried to save money but wasn't happy with the result.
also if i knew what i was going to eventually be buying i would of bought a parts car for sure. i would saved so much on shipping and items if i just bought a junker and got the parts from my back yard instead of surfing ebay all the time for everyday interior parts etc...
i hope that you can be smarter about your project then i was. in the end you will be very happy with your results because if its a beater like mine was, anything you do is an improvement then what you started out with even if you mess up a little. remember that.
i feel liek an old man giving advice and im only 24 hahaeh i dont know everything either so all i can say is goodluck and have fun with your ride.
oh and you will never be done with it haha, you will either wokr on it for a few yrs drive, get tired of the up keep of keeping nice n running and sell it or you will keep it and continue to modify/fix forever.
the idea is to get to a happy spot you can live for a while and then do your thing and tinker around with it when theres time.
