Re: Headlight conversion (non-popup) for 92 Firebird?
It looks pretty cool on a 4th gen.....but I dunno about a 91-92.

Re: Headlight conversion (non-popup) for 92 Firebird?
The only reason I like it is because I just don't like pop-up headlights period, but I like the Firebird's body design (and actually the headlights too) more than the Camaro's. I've seen a headlight conversion on a Pontiac Fiero, and that didn't look too bad, but the site with the pic didn't say anything about the headlights or give any info on them.
Re: Headlight conversion (non-popup) for 92 Firebird?
Some other guys have been talking about this sorta thing lately. Do a search for "sleepy eye" mods. Basically, the headlights pop up like a quarter of the way.
Re: Headlight conversion (non-popup) for 92 Firebird?
It can't be that hard to make. A piece of plexiglass and some fog lights mounted. Maybe go talk to some people in the Pontiac Fiero forums for details on what lights they use.
Re: Headlight conversion (non-popup) for 92 Firebird?
The "sleepy eye" mods I've seen aren't too bad, but I can't do some of the non-popup ones because this is a 92, which means the body is restyled, which means the headlights have to either popup or be completely non-popup. Here's that fiero headlight thing I was talking about earlier:
That's the only place I can find that pic, but it mentions nothing about it. And I can't find the owner of that car either (to contact).

I will be doing this mod in a month or so. I've just got to find the lights that I like so I can fab up the new light buckets. I think I've figured out how to get the motor to stop where I want it to...we'll see.

Re: Headlight conversion (non-popup) for 92 Firebird?
Not positive about 91-92, i can see if the headlight (foglights) are under the hood lip in a new headlight bucket but i think it would still be difficult. 82-90 on the other hand with that flat face where the "Pontiac" emblem is i could see someone putting plexyglass there and putting the headlights behind that, possibly putting that tint on there so it looks black during the day like it normally should, and then at night you would have lights in there shining through. Good luck on it, keep us up to date with pics and any scetches!

Watch out Fyrchicken! I've been wanting the "sleepy eye" mod for a long time! I might hit ya up on my car too!
The only reason I haven't done anything already, is I've got good Sylvania Silverstars AND a set of H4s waiting in the wings. So I'm in hurry to mod mine, despite the fact that I hate my frog eyes.
When the time comes, I can do your 4th gen mirrors, while you do my "sleepy eyes"!
Re: Headlight conversion (non-popup) for 92 Firebird?
another option is the the headlight mod that redraiff did. leave the lights closed, but put fog lights in the slots that are next to the signals. looks good. im sure its on here
