Re: looking at this SS hood

I don't have any comment on the company but that price is awful cheap.
The pics show it as a bolt on but I would believe that price for a pin-on before I would for a bolt on.

Re: looking at this SS hood

I talked to some friends who are into aftermarket honda kits, they told me that duraflex is the way to go.Stronger, lighter, very easy to work with...

So I made an offer of 325.00 and they accepted.(i guess ill be the guinnea pig)

325.00 +150.00 shipping = 475.00 for a SS hood.

Pics to follow.....

Re: looking at this SS hood

well heres an update, ive been tracking, and waiting for the dispatcher to call and set up a time for delivery. Anyhow i get a phone call from my wife 20 mins ago, saying that my hood is here....HOORAY. But... the driver wont pull it out of the truck for her to inspect for damage I get on the phone with him, explain that its a fiberglass hyood and she needs to look at it b4 she can sign for it. He then tells me that it is his co. policy that he cant pull it out and let her look at it until she signs for it....now im angry and trying to maintain myself. I work with Gator , saia, and S.E I have never heard of any BS policy like this. So i told him that shes not signing or refusing, and have his dispatcher to call me for when im there,

i now call the 1800 number for customer service, they say they have no policy like that. OK I say deliver tom then, only if i will pay extra for sat delivery

so now Im waiting Again for a phone call...

An for the record while im on this rant... BAX GLOBAL CAN KISS MY UNDERCARRIAGE

Re: looking at this SS hood

yea its the shipping co. I have called creative and talked to them, they said when the driver comes back, write on the B.O.L. that the driver would not let me inspect for damage, sign for it, and except it. If it is damaged I have 24 hrs to contact creative and make a claim, where they would then send me out a new one.

now that ive calmed down a bit , i can see where it would be cheaper to just send a new one out vs. paying for the return.

from messing with cheaper brand aftermarket hoods before, the only thing you really have to worry about is where the latch catches and where the mounting holes are... I've seen them break before and its never pretty. its likely that there will be some body work needed, they're never perfect and straight regardless of brand, even factory ones are shipped with defects.

Re: looking at this SS hood

Yeah I ve bought a couple of hoods already and thre is always work that needs to be done to them, I expected it. But for the most part this one is in great shape. The upper and lower panels have seperated right behind the scoop. If I would get it up to speed it would blow up like a balloon and eventually come apart. Thet have contacted me and got all my pics and info, so now the ball is in their court. Ill get some pics up tom. bare with me Ive had a bad cold for the last couple of days...

but I do have to say other than the damage, this is by far the best hood I have bought.. Ive bought, GT fiberglass, and Harwood. oh and it only weighs about 25 lbs.

Looks good. where's the damage and is it heavy? how much lighter do you think it is? Did someone step on it? it looks like theres a footprint towards the scoop.

If its anything like my Hawks SS hood, then it is a big difference. My small-self can only move the stock hood around awkwardly and I could nearly swing the SS hood around like a toy.

yeah i can pick the hood up and walk around with it in one hand, its real light. the damage occured behind the scoop. the inner and outer, (upper lower)panels have seperated, right behind the sccop. so if i got the car up to speed the air would get between the panels and the hood would be in two pieces. Prob not so good at a 100 +mph.

Re: looking at this SS hood

I figued id update this post, since im sitting on my arse and not driving my car. First off. Creative auto design, and Extreme dimensions. I wanted to type that so anybody doing a search can read abnout how much troulbe Ive had with these companies.

Ok i got a damaged hood. A good bus would replace or refund right? No.
They are out of stock on this hood until apr9. And they dont want to due a refund. Instead they offered to pay a local body shop a 100 bucks to fix it. I talked with a local guy and he said 250 plus materials, and that will make it functional and driveable, but not so pretty underneath. Needleass to say ive lost my temper and my patience.

Basicly Creative Auto is more or less a broker for Extreme dimensions. So they are completly unable to make a busisness descion without contacting ED.

My wife ( the smart one in the fam, and the most patient) came up with the idea of me cutting out the bad section and making it a pin on hood. This way I can test and tune and drive the car. at which point they can send me a new one in aprl. They can take the 100 they offered me and give it to the POS shipping company to haul this one out of my garage.

Creative auto thought that this was a great comprimise, and they said that they would pass the reccomendation on to ED. and find out what they wanted to do. That was last fri.

I guess my next steps are to post negative feedback on ebay and will a complaint with the BBB, and post an ad on ripoffreport.com....

And since im sitting on my arse maybe Ill post this link on a couple other forums

Re: looking at this SS hood

Took me awhile but i see what your saying. The hood would build alot of air pressure between the two panels. Other then that the grill could be a better design.

Good luck with it hope they do the right thing. I have the ASCD hood it was in decent shape for a fiberglass hood. Took a lot of block sanding to get it straight though.

LOL I thought of that, but I figured with all the trouble with this hood , it would splinter and puncture a tire or my oil pan.....

As soon as I get my money back in my acct im buying one from hawks.

Re: looking at this SS hood

I actually bought an almost identical hood from a more reputable company and paid quite a bit more, and even though it was well made as far as strength, it still needed many hours of bodywork to get it straight (my car was black). So realize, these hoods are not just bolt on and paint, they need a lot of massaging to get them to look nice.

Re: looking at this SS hood

Ive bought a few hoods, I know they arent bolt and go. for the most part this wouldnt have taken to much work. the scoop needed some trimming and sanding. but ultimately it was a defective hood.

and im still waiting on my refund, and the car is still sitting on the drive way.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I think the grill area looks pretty interesting though.

EDIT: Wow, I just realized I responded to a thread from March of 08...haha
