C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

So i have been doing a lot of research on C&C t-tops and have noticed some negative comments....some don't explain why. But then i also notice very positive comments. I know visually the major differences are the trim pieces separating them from the roof and the larger body section between the windshield and t's, but could you C&C owners (or previous owners) post your experiences/opinions on the C&C setup. Pics would be greatly appreciated too as i have yet had the opportunity to see them in person, only in a couple so-so pics.

thanks.

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

I have a few pics of my old IROC, but nothing that really shows the difference of the t-tops.
Honestly I'd say the biggest drawback is the lack of available parts.
http://sunroofdoctor.com/ is about the only place that sells any.
I don't think they are worse or better than factory tops. I've owned both.

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

i have both types.

c&c on my camaro
stock on my trans am

i think c&c are better but only bad thing is that the company is out of business and one company bought them out and is now selling the remainder of the spare parts

so pretty soon no one will be able to replace their worn c&c t-top parts

i bought spares so i should be good for many years.

no aftermarket yet for c&c

at least gm is starting to produce fresh stock parts

i just know i'm seeing some fresh brand new interior parts like shifter plates on ebay, and i know you can still get stock t-top weatherstripping from the dealership etc...

Is wind noise/whisling a problem at all with their style of sealing/weather stripping?

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

not that I can recall, its pretty sturdy and i think in a way looks better but thats just me.

i had to fabricate a new headliner since there is no aftermarket or NOS/OEM replacments for c&c t-top setups

ic ic, im thinking those are some NOS parts that people are trying to get rid of. At least they still (at the moment anyway) make the weatherstrip....OEM parts for these cars seems to get harder to find each day!

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

The C&C tops have a water channel below the weatherstrip, the OEM ones don't. My C&C tops don't leak, even after 20 years.

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

actually, i just saw a C&C t-to pcar.....i like the look of the GM ones, but it looks like the C&C tops were designed to withstand leaking a lot better than the GM tops.

So as of now No one is making after market T-Tops for our cars? Dammit I wanted to do mines, since my roof is starting to rust on top.

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

This issue was discussed in this topic already.

If the CnC tops had parts availible for them I think I would be a lot happier with them overall. They are a very good design, but every single issue you have with them will result in you having to fabricate something since you will be hard pressed to find any parts for them.

Mine rarely leak, even with shot weatherstripping simply because of the design of the rain gutter (ironicaly, most of my leaks are in GM-designed areas like the hatch seal and mirror-to-door seals). However they look like crap from the inside because I haven't taken the time to fab a headliner that will fit them.

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

My passanger sides leeks. Some where in the t-top it self. I havn't had time to check it, out going on 8 years now.

I got mine done in 1990. I think its was about $2500. No problem with them. I wish that C&C were still making the tilt tops.

From what I can remember. The installer told me they had a jig that the place on the front windshild and the door. In order to put the T-frame in. And they used rivits to hold the frame in place.

For a 17 year old headliner. Its in good condition. But would like to change it. One draw back since it custom. Unlike my 84 TA Daytona with factory t-top (BTY: thoses tops leek better ) just R&R

Maybe look for a top if you shader one.

She donesn't see rain like she has in the past.

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Does anyone happen to have pictures of them from the side showing the size of the larger gap between the windshield and the tops?

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

The only thing that annoys me about my C&C tops is that there is no way to adjust how tight they seal, and the plastic can squeek pretty bad. The handles are pretty easy to grab too and losing a C&C top on the highway would be VERY bad. So hard to find one.

My Tops don't leak though, they did when I got them because of a ripped weather seal though.

Yeah they lock, but the handle is very easy to grab if they aren't unlocked. I've had more than a few grab for the handle if they got spooked. One person broke the handle off and I had to get one from a busted C&C t-top.

Re: C&C T-top reviews....please post experiences/opinions.

My C&C tops have been great and I like the added feature mine came with — they also flip open at the back so you can let in some air without having to fully remove the glass.

I'll have to dig around and see if I have any pics handy.
