OK I need to restore the entire front of a 92???

Lemme start by staying I an a straight NEWBIE when it comes to cars, but im slowly learning and becoming to enjoy it a lot.

I bought an I-ROC off this guy for 200 dollars (Idiot). I think its a 92, but it has an automatic transmission, and I thought the 92's were only manual? IT looks like an 89 as well. How would I check?

Anyway, the entire front end is gone. The car still runs in superb condition and it only has 70,000 miles.

MY question to you all is, what all do I need to restore it? Im talking hood, lights, and all that is gone.

Re: OK I need to restore the entire front of a 92???

OK well to start off lets get some history right :-) Iroc-zs were from 1985-1990 until the international race of chapions lease of the name wasnt renewed by gm. SO in other words. If your car is a '92 It cant be an Iroc-z. second Not all 92s were automatics, they had manual cars also. (my 92 is a manual.)

Third To totally restore your car you will need parts to replace the front end of your car. like hood etc and stuff like that.

Also To find out If your car truly is a '92 camaro You will need to look up the vin number here on the forum or either at camarosource.ca. It will give you the year, what type of engine size you had and the sequence number of your car.

heres a link to the decoder.
http://www.camarosource.ca/php/camar...year=1976&tm=1

some one else send him a link to a decoder on this website.. Never actually used it.

Re: OK I need to restore the entire front of a 92???

See thats what I thought. I thought it was a 97 but I was told it was a 92. And I dont have the title im still waiting on the title to be sent from Illinois.

But I'll get pics in the next couple days since this car is like 18 miles away from me at this point and I have no way to get there. So please dont delete this thread I'll return.

The Franchise You still need to do alot of research on camaros still. Look it up on here and everywhere else. If its a 97 its a fourth generation car. If its a 92 its a third generation car and your in the right place :-)

You might be in over your head if you can't even figure out witch car you have, as you can see in the pics above there is a significant difference between a 4th and a 3rd gen. Id run the vin on the car then your rpo codes and the info will tell you just about everything about the car

Re: OK I need to restore the entire front of a 92???

how can you call the guy you bought the car from an idiot if you don't even know what car you bought from him???!!! It sounds like you might have an '87 Cavalier with the entire front half ripped off at this point. Look at your title/ run your vin and post some decent pictures of the damage, otherwise it's impossible to help you.

Re: OK I need to restore the entire front of a 92???

Okay

#1. The 97 was a typo I meant 87 sir.

#2. I bought the car off of my brother in law, who got it from the guy who he was friends with. The car was sitting in his garage, and one the guy moved he let him have it.

#3. It does indeed look like the second pic and it is an 87. I'm sorry I dont have pics I had to clear that up. I STILL haven't been to their house as it is a ways from here and gas is a bitch right now.

#4. And a question? What would are some of the seats you guys use? I'm looking to get some different ones after I fix it.

Re: OK I need to restore the entire front of a 92???

What does the instrument cluster look like?

Does it have the round gauges like this?

If so, then it could be anywhere from 82-89.

If it has the cluster like this.

Then it's a 90-92.

For the missing front bumper, any 85-92 bumper will fit on it. For the front Ground Effect, you'll need to find a 91/92 GFX if you want the scoops. If you don't, then look for 85-90 GFX.

Re: OK I need to restore the entire front of a 92???

I need some help here!!! I have a 91 RS that i put in a ditch. It wrinkled up the passenger side fender pretty good. Everyone keeps telling me the fender can only come from a 91 or a 92. Is this true??? If so, what is the difference between the older ones and the 91-92 fenders???

Not a big deal but the '91, '92 fenders and front bumper have little slots for the GFX to attach to and the earlier ones have round holes. You could probably get the earlier fender to go on with a little work.

Franchise- You should get a parts car with a nice front end. An '88,'89 or '90 RS that was rear ended will have most of the parts that you need except the hood and IROC hoods are everywhere.
Cheap parts cars are the way to go if you have the room because they should have most of the special hardware that you will need. Then you can sell the extra parts to make up the money of buying the cars.
(That's why my IROC was less then free) I'm about $250 below what I paid for the original chassis and parts cars.
