This is just getting annoying because leaves are now finding their way into the engine bay, along with a little bit of water..

But I opened the hood to take a peek one night, and now it just won't close...We didn't screw around with anything, so it couldn't be something in the engine bay

Did this happen to anyone else and how'd you get it back to close?

Is the latch stuck open? If the latch is rusted badly it can stick. Try some WD40 on it and pull the hood lever a few times then spray it again then try closing

If the latch was stuck open, wouldn't that mean that the hood would close, just wouldn't be latched close?

Yeah. So when you try closing yours theres still a gap? Maybe the latch got closed while your hood was up?

WOW, I thought the latch was open the entire time, but it was just closed...for some reason the hood latch didn't open when I had someone pull on it while I tried closing it

It's fixed now, thanks!
