Any body got any pics of a factory DX3 (decal delete option) IrocZ? i think my '87 has the decal delete. it does not say IrocZ on the doors but on the rockers and the back bumper and it has the "Z28 IrocZ" on the dash. and also it only has 1 red stripe around the ground effects rather than the 3. i was jus wonderin if anyone can confirm this. btw anyone got the production numbers of cars produced with the DX3 option in '87?
There was no decal delete available in 87. That was first offered in 88. If your car is an 87 without decals, then the previous owner took them off or had the car painted and never put them back on. Also, the rockers and rear bumper would say Z28, not IROC-Z if you have an 87.
you are right about the delete package not being offered in 87 but trust me, this sucker has factory paint, its an 87 (build date is 12/86) it says IROC-Z on the rockers and bumper, it is black with one single red (and deteriorating) stripe alonge the bottom... AND THATS IT. The car is 100% original, if anyone has any vin code knowledge let me kno
Again, if the car is an 87, then changes have been made by the previous owner. The bumper emblem and side emblems were cheap in the day and the stripes are easy to remove when new. Not sure what VIN knowledge is required on this part. There was no decal delete option in 87 and the emblems would say Z28, not IROC-Z.
rocker and rear bumper emblems would say z28 not irocz as previously said. if it is an 87 and it says irocz then they are NOT original bumper or side skirts. to see if it is an iroc at all look for the B4Z code in the center console.

I come to this board once or twice a year...post much less and even I could figure out how to search the forums on a vin decoder...
Oh... that must have been what happened to me last week. Perhaps my IROC had a Decal delete option and I was not aware of it, so the stock-Nazi's decided that I should comply and "acquired" my hood emblem.
(Someone stole my hood emblem last week) - threadjack concluded.
