Shoot...put on the hood and hatch, and you'll have a nice JYD replica there.
But, in all seriousness...you've done SO much work on this and I personally cannot WAIT to see the finished result of all this body work after spraying. Drop on the scanner and the nose, and that's going to be one ROCKIN' KITT!!

Yey, junk yard dog replica is where it's at now... I just got through watching that one last night and got some killer screengrabs from it. My site is up and running. It's not the best looking thing yet but it's one just to get my name out a little. The website is Phoenixbumpersonline.com. I've got a view more mods to it and it will be done and ready to sell. Thanks for the comments guys, I now am ready to spray some black on and start final sands...YES! AAAAaaaaahhhhh! can't wait . I think the middle or end of next month, it will be at The Paint Shop. A guy named Scott Winfield is painting it and his paintjobs always , look nice. He did a couple for Year One, an old 68 camaro that was black, and man was it slick. Anyway. Thanks again and I look forward next time showing you all it on a flatbed getting hauled to the shop. Can't wait!..Anyway...you all have a good one!

Re: smoothin car out
I know guys , more pics of the primered car... well, this is my April update and all I have done is the last sanding before paint. So, guide coats are a blast. They show you all imperfections. YES! Another block... How many times does this make it for the engine bay and car?.. I quit counting! All I know is that I think it will be worth it , so I shot some pics of it with cleaner and , oh yey, reflections among us!
I do my guide coats probably different than alot of ya , I just spray it until it looks something like this
Then the sanding continues, the pics are with cleaner also , so that's why so shiny...
Anyway, this is my April update, just thought I'd share with you all...Thanks for looking and again, this is also a record for me to look back on when done, so anyway. Thanks for looking and talk with you all later!
Thanks
Marc

Excuse me if that sounds anyway, I'm just soooo excited to see it in Black and how it turned out...Anyway. 5 years is now worth the wait...Here's some pics

Re: smoothin car out
Take a yard stick and put it(gently) against the paint, as level as possible, and see which inch increment you can clearly read in the reflection. I know how good my paint job is the more inches I see in the reflection. Looks really good.

Re: smoothin car out
no, more like being punished..... just a little time in the engine bay...just a little... Got my K-member back in and rocking with newer stuff on and also , I painted! This is not an easy task to do , but with an engine out, why not ? Anyway, I know this will look little but, compared to before, this looks like a totally different K-member, anyway. I'm liking this as the K-member is last before the engine and tranny go in...Oh, better go get started on those .....well, still have stuff to do as in Struts and Strut brackets, but I'm going to go ahead and get started on that tranny. Here's some Pics pics! Thanks also to BadGTA.... Alot of work there. Thanks

Re: smoothin car out
Thanks guys, I'm working now on installing the wiper system and brake booster, which I now have both in. I'm going to wait to take pics when I get the strut tower braces/brackets and struts in. After these items are done, I'll be looking at putting the tranny and engine back in. When this happens, man , it will be a day for me. All down hill after this, I definately know that. Things will come together fast after engine gets back in. After engine, I'll probably work on getting power to everything, so I can go ahead and install the Knight Rider dash in and actually see it all in with carpet and lower and upper console in. Anyway. Getting a little ahead of myself, but if I could just get the engine, power, and dash in this year, man, I'll be happy. Anyway. Talk to you all again, and thanks for the kind words. I'm about 4 and a half years into this project. My wife deserves alot to put up with me and the $hit she has gone thru on this car! Talk to you all when struts in. Later

Re: smoothin car out
All bondo! I think it will be okay.... Jjokin man, Jjokin...Don't think I'm being a smarT&^^ I'm not, just having fun bro! No , I just welded and welded and welded, oh and grinded , and grinded until the lines were right. It is all metal, I of course used a smoothing device. I used fiberglass resin, ALLMETAL , and of course some Rage Gold in there. This is not very practical for street use of course, mainly show, well, all show....Anyway
Don't look like alot of work, but the wiper motor, wiper mechanics, booster , and screen cover for cowl...not alot, but all I've done as of late. Talk to you all later

Re: smoothin car out
Man, I've had some time off from band and man, getting alot done.....I redid the Struts, Camber plates, brake cals, the rotors(which were rusty , been sitting for a couple of years), brake lines, steering gearbox and joint to steering, the headlight wiring harness and then the master cylinder for brakes. Man, I'm tired, but alot done. I'm liking it so far. Looking more like an engine bay!!! Anyway , here's some pics.....Talk with ya'll later, have to do the other side now...YEY!!! Jjokin...Can't wait actually... the engine is right around the corner!!! Getting closer now to that...CAN"T WAIT!!!! Also, I'm getting in some cover caps to go over the Sturt tower /camber plates bolts/nuts . This way , there is not any bolts showing. These camber plates are different and I like them, but also now have to find something to cover that big ol' nut for the strut. I like different , but sometimes stock looks good too. I like these , but I might always switch back to the originals too. I like the originals too...Anyway Just blabbing...Talk with you all soon/maybe Georgia!

Re: smoothin car out
When you made your own battery tray did you weld over the stock tray or cut it out and replaced with your new piece?
Is a TIG welder about the only option to weld?
and WOW!

Thougth I'd keep you all posted on what I've been doin............I've been making my KITT engine bay look like a turbine engine....I know....but.....Imagination!!!!! Jjokin... Remember my engine cover, well here is the other pieces I'm adding to it, turned out nice, warning, this is raw glass, has to be prepped. (part of the fab stuff)
Anyway...Here's a few pics...
Just thought I'd keep you guys posted.... not that you care, especially right here at the Holidays, by the way, Happy Holidays!!! I just want to show one side finished and show what I'm trying to go for. With some electronics or gadgets(maybe LCD to show the making of my replica, don't know yet, ) , but , Here's what I was going for, and the scanner does fit under the hood correctly. This is the whole reasoning for the way I did it.... to make the black metal I added, make it look like the top of the scanner when hood's closed.. It closes, very tight, but yey, it works. Kind of cool looking, almost looks like a show scanner done like this. Anyway, here's some pics...More pics coming soon. About to finish the cowl cover too. (just smoothing out part) (gadgets on it come later)(that's what I can't wait to do, paint the covers, then put gadgets in) Talk to you all later
P.S. and yes, my plexi is all busted up, luckily I have more.... Jjokin

Wow....if I ever hit the lottery, I want to make a real K.I.T.T ....You said that you was adding gadgets....what kind??? And just how much will be replicated for just looks ...but with "Garmen" I think its Garmen's G.P.S that you can down load different voices like Willum Danuals ( I think I spelled his name wrong ) ...but anyway I was just wondering what kind of gadgets that you where putting in ....an idea that I had ..was to look at a military hummer and see how it can inflate and deflate its tires and see if it can be adapted over to use on a car .......Good Luck with your K.I.T.T

Re: smoothin car out
Almost to the painting time... going to add on a few more add-ons.....like KITT's S/N plate that KITT might have had. Also going to maybe add a few items up front by scanner, but for now, this is looking pretty cool. Just if wondering , the little tank on the side is a supposed (imagination now/ turn on) compression chamber for turbine engine, and once the cover is in the real ride, (My KITT) , I'll have the turbo sitting up there too. So anyway. Getting almost finished, need to polish those lines, but the left scanner cover is done, and this main cover. Anyway. Alot of fabbing in this. Might look weird, but, didn't KITT back in the day look cool, most of it was for imagination purposes A? Talk to you all soon.....Might have them painted next and add the other metal stuff I have planned....Thanks for looking
Marc
This last one is for kick and giggles....Blk and white pics make it look like old show photos .....just having fun....Talk to you all soon

Re: smoothin car out
LOL..... That's actually a mock up car that is actually my wife's 82, when clean , it's one of the best unrestored cars you can ever find. She's allowing me to make my engine cover for my Knight Rider car so I wouldn't mess up my engine bay shine....Hah.... Engine will be going in this next month or so, so, I'm looking forward to finishing these covers and getting her car back in order...she is too. I couldn't agree more, when done, these covers should look cool.... don't know until done. Talk to ya soon
