use straight super clean and take your carpet to the car wash and preasure wash it
you could use some fabric die but I found that interior plastic paint works the best but gets expensive unless you are touching up a carpet that is already the color you are painting
You bet, W/ Opsec in mind...approx when would you be home? Or should i say making the move to Ft. Knox. I came down on orders to Germany, but maybe we could catch eachother before then.
GERMANY?!?! You lucky dog!
Sounds like the plan is approx late summer and I'll be in your neck of the country. We'll see what/when it actually happens - you know how "predictable" the military can be!

The Camaro is my obsessions;
That I shall ALWAYS want!
It maketh me burnout on black pavements;
It leadeth me down the busy freeways;
It restoreth my soul.
It leadeth me in the path of quickness;
For its name sake.
Yeah, though I drive through the valley of RICE,
I shall fear no turbo, for torque art with me!
Thy rod and thy piston, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a track for me.
In the presence of mine enemies;
Thou hast anointed my bearings with oil;
My car overpowers.
Surely traction and victory shall follow me
All the days of my life.
And I shall dwell in the house of the Chevrolet\
Forever and EVER! Amen.
I don't know the difference between regular carpeting and automotive carpet, but we dyed our house carpet from pepto bismol pink to black about 3 years ago and it still looks good.
Umm, not certain about that. But thanks for the idea!!

original GM Arctic White on exterior and engine Bay, Original 305 Tbi Rebuilt bored .20 over. With rebuilt T-5
1984 z28, 305, automatic, g80, rear, 52k miles all original!
So here is the car at its current state. With the new exhaust And body work started. Notice i put the bra on to cover that nasty rust that was in the front...but thats soon to come off. i started with the left rear and will slowy work my way around car. i would have removed trim but it was a chilly day and didnt want to break any.
Carzwitballz, what kind of catback did you go with? Does anyone know where I can get nice tips like those? I had a Flowmaster 80 Series catback installed, and I had them shave the pipes in the back so you can't see them. I am starting to like the look of those big pipes now =) anyone know where I can have some nice pipes/tips welded on?
Same, I had purchased a flowmaster 80 series catback. However i had them do 2 1/2 inch pipe....my opinion i should have done 3 inch, I guess next time. Also the tips you can get at any reputable exhaust shop, and you can tack them on yourself if you have a welder. ...Pics tonight of primer...battery dead in camera right now

The goal for the Car is to have the main body and jams all painted this weekend that way as i get the rest of the parts done they can go right back on, The car was taken all apart, then put the doors fenders and front bumper back on to make sure that the body lines all looked good. The passenger side quarter panel im still not really 100% satisfied with so i am gonna go over it again. I mean it looks good and to the average person it would be fine but since i know where the imperfections are it is hard for me to over look them even if no one else will ever notice them. I dont know alot of the history of the car but it had been banged up and painted afew times. There were spots on the drivers side that the paint and clear just fell off . the lower section of the drivers side fender was never sanded the last time it was painted . We took a razor blade to it and the clear just peeled off and it was still shiney under it. I know that it has taken alittle longer then i first thought it would, but the my old boss taught me to never half *** anything just because no one would notice or ever know or because the average person doesnt know what to look for. The two pictures that i am posting this time is of the car mostly together and all but the front bumper in primer. they are kinda foggy i didnt realize that it was that foggy in there still when i took the pictures but i will take some new ones tonight so that they are clear and try post sometime this week
dang carz! Looks like its coming along nice so far.
Glad to see you decided to do the disassembly for the paint.The end results will turn out SOOOOO much cleaner.
And yeah,I know exactly what you mean about little imperfections that probably noone else will see but,if you're like me it will continue to annoy you if it isn't fixed(even if noone else ever notices,its always going to be the first thing YOU see when you look at the car.
Hopefully my 91-z will be in primer sometime before the end of the month.
Found these wheels on craigslist for 750 bucks...Just looking for opinion before i purchase. Ad says Brand New DETATA 17" CHROME Wheels with P 215/50R17 yokohama tires. I know nothing about rims...but i like the look...so please give me your thoughts

I have come to find that people really appreciate the stock 16" Z28 rims on these cars. I accually get compliments on them! Have them repainted/clearcoated to match the color of brand new OE center caps and you'd be amazed at how sweet they look.
I like aftermarket but those rims may look out of place bro but to all their own. Maybe you can have someone photoshop them on your car to see how they look. I am a fan of the stocks u have on tho.
Thanks guys...After your comments on the rims and talking to my dad i decided to stay with the stock look and just have them restored. Im actualy getting ahead of my self with the wheels....Im just so excited to get this paint done!! Anyhow new pics soon
Here are current pics....Still have to put the stripes on and paint the trim...along with wing. Im getting very anxious now to see her shine in the outdoorlight....should be complet by the end of this week giving i dont get called out to the feild..
car looks good, I really like the color, Id pass on those rims, and 215 50 17 is not really the greatest size of tire if your looin for 17s make sure and get at least 245 wide tires, IMO

The long awaited finished results. I dont know if you notice but in these pics the grille is in place, it however is no longer. After the paint cures for a while i am gonna go over and wetsand the entire car...than buff and hopefully have a smooth glasslike finish. You all know this was my first ever attemp on a paint job...and if i might say it turned out pretty darned good. Just a few flaws in the paint that are noticable by me and those who do this as a hobby/profession. Hope you all enjoy my NEW CAMARO!!
Ok so check this out. I finaly decided to drop the tranny again... and this is what i found...UCKKK!!!! This is the worst i have ever seen a flexplate crack!!

Ok so i got a wild hair to remove all the interior...seems like i just keep finding stuff to do to this baby. Anyhow my intentions are new carpet and seats to go with the headliner i tryed to restore. I did get new wheels on her ans she is looking great....this is the latest condition
Ok so the interior is all gutted now. I have placed orders on some things and am currently waiting to get all the parts to put it back togethor. Its amazing how a small budget car turns into a full blown backbreaking money reaking project!!!

Man,car looks very good! I will say though,if you want to keep the car nice,you better fix that little rust problem on the d/s floorpan.Appears to be an easy fix right now but,if you ignore it and just throw new carpet in it, that little hole is only gonna get bigger everyday.
Fixed it over weekend....im gonna spray a undercoat as soon as i get all the little rust spots grinded out. Ill post when done

Well im back. I know its been a long time since The last post and most have deleted this thread. But just as an update I have been restationed to Germany and had to get rid of the Camaro. It was a sad sad day for me!! But definatly will be starting a new project when I return to the states
I just read through this thread for the first time, and have to say great job on the car, and nice updates as you went along. Kinda surprised to see how fast you went through it as well, that wouldve been an easy year long thing for me probably (but i work 6 days a week, thats why), but great job and it looks great. Also sorry to hear you had to sell it, at least it will be more likely to still lead a long happy life since it looks so good whoever bought it will probably keep her shining real nice. I know i would if I had it.
looks like the camaro came out.. did you end up taking care of the black trim on the hatch? mines the same way I'm just looking for pointers before I rip her off
