Yellow was an IROC only color for the camaro in 1987. That same year it was a Formula only color on the Firebird. In 1988 it became an SC only color, but remained a Formula only color. it was dropped mid Model year (around january 1988 IIRC). It was not offered again on any 3rd gen Camaro.
The yellow in 1985 has a different color number for that one year, but was the same from 1986 - 1988. There was also a pale yellow that had a very cream appearance, I think its only offering was 1985 but I may be wrong, I also believe it was a SC, possibly a Berlinetta only color and NA on the Z or IROC-Z. The 1985 to 1986 color number change may be from the fact that in 1986 The F-body got a clearcoat on all of their finishes. I am not sure how different the 1985 color is.
Personally my favorite colors on the F-body is Yellow, matter of factly there is much fighting over 1992 jamacia Yellow or JY 1992 Formulas, T/A's and GTA's as it is apparently very desirable.

I hope that helps.

about 6 or 7 years ago before i bought my third gen i used to always pass a pale yellow irorz that sat next to barn about 150' off the road. I always thought it was odd, you dont see alot of yellow t-gens. the place has been sold since then and i dont know where the car ever went.

I'll have to look, it looks like yellow gold but it's faded out weird since it sat for 9 years before i bought it, plates were last legal in '00. I'm going to try to save the door labels when i swap the doors but no guarantees on that one. I had an '87 yellow gold Iroc years ago and that's the color this one will end up as.
This kinda bums me a bit. The car I want for my own more than anything else is a yellow IROC. Preferably a 350/5 spd with ttops... I know they never made a 350 5spd, but I know people do the swap all the time.. so as long as the car was in good working order and was still TPI, I wouldn'y mind. A yellow IROC to me is almost as good as my dream car '69 z28 302... lol.
Go here: www.iroc-z.com You will find all the production data for these cars there. Yellow is slightly rare. I myself own a yellow B4c 86 IROC. Only one of 3 as far as I can tell.
My buddy has one, and there are 2 more in town. I see them every day. For the right price, I will make anybody's Iroc Yellow! I painted one Torch Red once.
HP5 by HP design. Got them at www.hawksthirdgenparts.org, but I dont think tbhey have them anymore because I dont see them on their website. I needed adapters to get them to fit.
Here is a friend of mine's 87 SC that's yellow. They bought the car new, and its a factory yellow. Sorry the pictures are kinda crappy quality, they where taken probably about 6 years ago. They still have the car, Now its getting some body rot removed and a 350tpi thrown in it.

I was mistaken,
I read the brochure wrong, it states " *IROC Z28 Available in these colors only." I read it to mean that ONLY the IROC Z28 was available in these colors.
It is kind of misleading, but then I realized that RED was also one of those colors listed under the *...
