Installing weatherstrip

Hey, I just purchased new door and t-top weatherstripping and plan to install it this weekend (i hope). I have never replaced weatherstripping before and was wondering if there is anything that I should know/be prepared for before I start? I have the 3m adhesive... Just glue it in? Thanks

Re: Installing weatherstrip

Who ever did the t-top weatherstripping last sure didnt want that damn thing leaking. The whole channel is filled from side to side with thick adhesive. Paint thinner is doing the job though. That is actually more stressful than I thought it would be. Dealing with the time constraints and all. Plus, my stripping didnt have the self adhesive on the very front part... grrr One side is done anyway. Back at it...

Re: Installing weatherstrip

Make sure you clean all the old adhesive off good before you apply the new stuff. They make an adhesive remover specifically for that or maybe someone around here can chime in with some over the counter stuff that works from home depot or something.

Re: Installing weatherstrip

I have been using the paint thinner trick... it makes the old stuff all crumbly when you rub it on it. Thanks for the tip though.
