Has anyone replaced TA hood vent grills with something exotic?

Like aluminum honeycomb mesh?

I was looking at mine and it wouldn't be hard to do and fit in the locations on hood vents where the plastic is right now, just buy a sheet of material and cut away.

I was curious if anyone has done this and have pics? I would like to see how it looks.

It seems like a polished or brushed aluminum both would look good....especially against a red or black car.

I am in the middle of making new front hood vents. They look in between ram air and a naca duct, backed by polished mesh. Totally cosmetic! It doesnt change the appearance much unless you know the car, then you will notice. Its not a major difference because after all its still the dimensions of the original two front openings. I like it because it is a subtle change.

If my vents were broken i probably would look to something like that mesh, as it would look good, i would just be concerned about keeping it clean and what some of the elements may do to them. Post pics if you go this route!
