I have searched and searched for aftermarket taillights for my 3rd gen camaro and I could NOT find any except for covers and the police in my area don't really like those.
So my question is if I was to make custom taillights would anyone be interested???
I have some ideas for them, but I would like your opinion on what kind of style you would want. My plan is to retain the stock housing for the taillights so no modifications would need to be made.
The plan for mine would be somewhat like the corvette style. I would have 3 circle tailights but clear lenses and just use red lenses. I would eliminate the side lights on the taillights to clean it all up.
Let me know what you think. All input would be greatly appreciated. I would be able to do many different styles with many different lenses.

Remeber that legally you have to have rear side markers and the corner that wraps around the side is the sidemarker, so if you eliminate that you will have to somehow incorporate something else for a rear side marker. Just thought id throw that out there
Side markers are mandatory. The vette theme has come(& gone) already. What would the 3rd light be for though? There was that spagetti place that started doing tailights for 3rd gens, but that seems to have fizzed out too. There seems to be some concepts for our cars tailights, but most havent come together very well.I have a few myself, but no means to produce them.
Thank You, Im really wanting to make these as legal as possible.

The lights that I would be making are going to be like the supra's rather then the vettes. Ive found 1 actual aftermarket style light but it has the same exact style lenses, you can just choose smoked, red, or clear.

I dont want the actual ZR1 light set up. I've seen those before and they are way to costy. I'm wanting something more like the 4th gen aftermaket lights.
I have the regular black outs. The 3m double sided tape works like crap, and it shows when you have to flip the lights. We drilled two small holes on each corner of the light and used bolts and nuts to hold them together. Also used the sealer so the water doesnt get through. To cover the bolts, I used the black snap caps that go over the bolt and dont show, you can pick these up at any auto store for about $3. Here is a picture.
I had the same exact thing with mine, but instead of the 3m tape the guy I bought the car from had velcro. I thought it looked really good, but for some reason the rookie cops didn't like it to much. The first day I put the caps on the screws I had holding them on I got pulled over for my tailight covers and tinted liscence plate covers. What makes me mad the most about the hole ordeal is that not do I see the blacked out taillight covers but I also see A LOT of tinted plate covers on vehicles. I don't really appreciate being harrased just because Im a minor and I have a sports car.
It ended up turning out that I have become friends with the cop that pulled me over and he is actually a really nice guy. Oh and he got over his whole "Rookie" stage and he's a lot more linient.

If you eliminate the stock side markers, you could always get a set of sidemarkers from a Firebird & put those in the rear quarters....100% legal & wouldn't even be questioned by cops.
