1992 Convertible Floor Pans

I'm new to his restoration game and currently am working on my first, a 1992 RS convertible. I am redoing the interior and as such found that the rear passenger (driver side) floor pan area needs to be replaced. After searching for hours on the internet it appears the only aftermarket floor pan I can find is the front full length one's that run to the rear of the front seat. I need to replace the rear area between the rear of the front seat and the back wall/gas tank area. This "pan" area also has the seat brackets attached to it so fabricating something won't work. Anyone have any ideas or can send me in the right direction? I have tried all the usual stops such as Year One, Classic Industries, etc. and even GM who claim the don't catalog such an item. Thanks

Re: 1992 Convertible Floor Pans

I'm PRETTY sure you can't buy a floor pan for one specific section of the car. All that splicing in and welding would make the floor incredible weak. My buddy did that a long time ago with some ugly Bronco, his little kid was in the back seat tapping his feet on the floor, part of the floor pan literally fell off as he was driving down the highway, scared the poor kid half to death.

Re: 1992 Convertible Floor Pans

I just went through a search and post for partial floor pans - NOBODY makes them for a 3rd Gen, only thing out there is 2 sides, front to back each overlapping on the tranny tunnel. My problem was very small caused by an AC condensate leak so just had 2 spots the size of a dime and had sheet steel welded over those. I spent a lot of time searching - save yourself the time, you either need to buy a whole 1/2 pan of fabricate something.

Re: 1992 Convertible Floor Pans

you will have to fab up the seat mounts anyway. i just ordered from hawks they were the cheapest for the pan and the shipping. most wanted between 120-160 for shipping hawks was 95. and with the part being cheaper that helped aswell.

if you only need the rear portion of the pan you could prolly order the pan take the rear half and sell the front portion. im sure some one will need it.
