Trunk Problems

Hey guys I've never posted here, but recently (about an hour ago) I ran into a problem with my trunk. I own a 1992 Camaro RS and when I put the hatch down normally, I push it down until it catches on the trunk clasp and then a little electric motor or something pulls the whole thing down shut tight. Now tonight I was at my buddy's house and I went to close my trunk and it caught like it was supposed to, but then after closing the little motor continues to go, except now the noise is amplified about 5x and it doesnt shut up until i flip down the license plate and use my key to open the trunk again. So at the moment, I cannot shut my trunk. The sound is actually VERY similiar to a really loud FoodSaver home vaccum packer unit (almost verbatim)
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem or any ideas on how to fix it. Its one in the morning right now and I really felt more like asking the professional guys on this site and hit the hay for a bit rather than tear out the trunk paneling and seeing what's up right away. (I frequent the site, though I have never used theforums before)

All your help is appreciated! Thank you!

James

Re: Trunk Problems

You need to pull the fuse for the trunk motor or the conectors because it is now a battery drain. The problems may be a stripped plastic gear in the pull down assembly. I suggest you download the instructions for this assembly from TopDownSolutions web site and troubleshoot what is wrong.
