anyone know a good place to get a ram air intake setup from? also if you need to change any electrical stuff when you put it on. i have a mass air flow, are there different ones with or without that?
one more thing i wanted peoples opinion, anyone ever tried using the ram air on a regular hood? i have been thinking and the way it looks if i cut out part of under the hood and make those little vents on the stock hood functional i may be able to have ram air without the nostrels on my car. what do you guys think?
what kind of engine do u have? a tbi setups are really hard to find. spectre makes one for the car but its pricey. I have a ram air II hood on my car that i got from fasttoys.net

That would be too much work for little gain. How you would keep water from getting in the nostrils and not the intake? Also, it won't work if you just cut part of the underhood, the box intake of the ram air is much thicker than you think. You would have to cut into the radiator support and lower your radiator/fans. If you were to use it, it would have to be set back more towards the motor...have to make a custom support for it and ducts to take the air towards the box.
Ram air is nothing but a fancy cold air intake. On an airplane going hundreds of miles per hour it might be a different story. If you want a performance gain, custom build a CAI that gets cold air outside of the engine bay(underneath the "battery tray" that doesn't have a battery on it).
I'm even skeptic that the non-sealed ram air box system for thirdgen hoods performs better than a normal cold air intake.
I'll recommend getting a RA hood still though but not for performance reasons unless maybe weight reduction.
thanks for the replies, i appreciate all the feedback. i am trying to avoid the hood, to me it is an eye sore. i ran around town and once i looked where the air cleaner sits its way too far back. i guess i might just go with a cold air kit.
no i have a tpi, seen a cold air kit for like 40 or 60 bucks on ebay. so now i am thinking of a formula hood. somthing that will make the car stand out. anyway thanks for the feedback, glad i joined this site, it's good to bounce ideas off people.
