I purchased my T/A from a body shop in the area, the owner of the shop/ car restores cars for a hobby and job. When he restored my car he replaced my hood with a 2nd gen hood with a shaker scoop. I can't keep the scoop from moving around, meaning from being straight to facing the passenger completely. Any ideas how to fix this? It attaches to the intake, not the hood.

One is the scoop on wrong with hood down
Another is scoop on right with hood up
and the last is the scoop on its side showing the intake, the silver ring on the scoop in what attaches to the intake. Its a pain in the back end to put on and it comes off too easily.
No, the scoop is too small to do that. the top half of the scoop is visible. The rubber "skirt" on the bottom is not seen, it keeps the water out of the engine bay. I've seen shaker scoop seals at various store, but I'm not sure thats what I need and $40 plus s&h is too much to not use.
How much clearance is there between the hood and the "skirting" part of the scoop? If there isn't much, try putting some weatherstripping or rubber around it so when the hood is closed it applies pressure down on it. That should keep it from moving around when driving.
There is barely any clearance there with weather stripping thats already on the scoop. And the weather stripping helps the hood hold down the scoop and keep water out, thats about it.
It may be doing it's job keeping water out, but it's not keep it from moving around. If you add more or put something that will cause the hood to press down on it more it'll keep it from moving.
And actually, the scoop is free moving from the "skirt" weatherstripping. At least that's how it looks. Is it possible to adhere the scoop and the weather stripping? It shouldn't need anything too strong.

It looks like the two locating metal tabs on the scoop that go around the crank case breather filter are broken off. That is what keeps it from spinning on the air cleaner base.
The weather stripping "skirt" is bolted on the scoop, and I'm not sure what else I can add it it to reduce the movement. And I believe Dens71TA is right, because there are now tabs or anything that wrap around or connect to the filter case. Actually, the metal ring on the bottom of the scoop that should connect to the case is quite rusted and wore down, its thinner on one side and thicker on the other. Is that ring something I can get from Summit or Year One?
It was like this when I got it, although I'm not too happy with the scoop. I'm debating with replacing it with a ram air style scoop....but can't find one that matches the specs of the hole.
I had a new 1976 T/A with the Shaker Scoop. I don't recall any issues with the scoop rotating on the air cleaner. The band clamp gripped the air cleaner tightly when the screw was tightened and it never moved. There are a couple of reasons why this might be happening. (1) the air cleaner is not the correct one for the scoop. (2) the band clamp is damaged and won't tighten up enough to prevent rotation.
The ring/ metal piece attached to the scoop is what is damaged, the clamp is in good condition and the air filter is a K&N fitted for the car/scoop. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement ring/metal piece for the scoop or a ram air style scoop with 19"L x 15"W?
There is a fella on here that actually did a shaker conversion on his Trans AM similar to that a while back. I can't remember the thread title, but in the end it turned out looking awesome and he wasn't having the issues you're having. Do a search and see what comes up.
