Fiberglass Ram Air hood problems?

Are fiberglass hoods often problematic? I recently bought an 87 Trans Am with a functional Ram Air hood on it, and I instantly fell in love with it. Because the hood is slightly warped (Will have pics up soon), I decided to get another one, but was informed that fiberglass hoods warp easily and the paint will crack under heat. Is this true? And if so, is there anywhere I can get an SMC hood or even metal/steel?
