Hood insulation - difference between 82-84 and 85-92

Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between these two different eras? I know that the 82-84 had the crossfire option which required a hole in the middle, but I am finding the regular ones too. Will the regular hood insulation for the 82-84 camaro work on my 85 z28 hood?

i dont really think it matters, any 82-92 hood will fit any third gen camaro. and as for the hood insulation i wouldnt bother putting that back on.. go get a few sheets of stainless and cut out the paterns of the under side of the hood trust me looks AMAZING when pollished up nice

Earlier 3rd gens have "regular" style insulation pads, later ones are molded - I do not believe anyone is making the later molded styles, but the earlier ones will fit all years as long as you get the correct air cleaner style.
