Window, passanger, alignment?

I had an 84 Camaro and I now have a restored 91 Firebird. Both these cars had the same inherent problem of not being able to have the passanger side window to close properly. Even after making adjustments I am unable to get the power window to seat properly if powered up while the door is closed. I have to open the door than close it from outside with my hand on the top corner of the glass. Any suggestions?

YES! Here is how I went about it. You will need painters masking tape.

1. Remove the inside door panel.
2. loosen (DO NOT REMOVE) the two upper window stops.
3. loosen (DO NOT REMOVE) the two forward window guide bolts.
4. loosen (DO NOT REMOVE) the two rear window guide bolts.

The window should now move in all directions. If not? See which of those bolts is not loose enough.

5. With the window in the up position, gently close the door.
6. From outside of the car use your palms to position the window correctly.
7. Once positioned correctly use (2) pieces of tape about 4 inches long
and place them on the window at the edge of the outer weather striping
where the window meets the top of the door. One towards the front of
the car and one towards the rear.
8. With the door closed, have a buddy maintain the alignment of the tape edges to the top of the door tighten all the hardware EXCEPT the "upper window stops". Now you need to have your buddy hold a very slight pressure on the outside in so the glass is coincident to the car weather stripping. Now tighten the (2) remaining hardware for the upper window stops.

Note: if the window has a problem moving down you need to loosen and slide the lower front guide forward until you have a.

It worked for me. Let me know how it goes.

Wow sweet! I have this same problem too! Must be a problem with our cars. Anyway, I will have to give this a shot. Thanks key2hwy!
