i was curious if anybody had any experience w/ the ebay company hoods4sale and their 4" bolt on cowl hood for 275? i tried searching for anything on this and didnt really come up w/ much so, i'm curious if its worth buying or not, i'm in need of one since my motor is to tall to fit under the stock hood so i'm lookin and was curious. thanks everybody.
did a search on google and there is some post on other forums about some of the hoods not lining up bulges, etc i would be hesitant to buy a hood from them there feed back has people saying they dont fit
hoods are something you need to know a lot about the mfg. quality control is everything and so it history. any fool can take a hood make a mold and fiberglass a hood. the art is in the correct glass bonding, curing time, and strength. that is only based on history.
and i think oem hoods are best to modify. fibergalss - and others think differently - need other bracing, flap in the wind, and separate. if you start with your oem and fabricate a metal part for it you are better off as far as strength goes. weight is another matter.
drag machines, funny cars, etc use glass, but they can aford to rebuild them all the time. i cant, and you probably cant or dont want to either.
i have a camaro and i wanted more air under the hood so i took the vents from a t/a - where they dont actually work, and i am having a mockup made for use in my oem hood. i dont need air for the intake, but i want cool air in and hot air out so that is my feeling.
others like big intakes in their hoods, so if that is what you want, use your oem steel hood and fabricate the intake you want.
there are plenty of people think i am full of it and i may be - but i like the strength of a steel hood.
