Car: 1989 GTA, 1985 T/A Engine: L98, LG4 Transmission: Slush-o-matic 700R Axle/Gears: stock and stock | Re: New Hinges? Yes, those are the ones I was thinking of. I cannot vouch for them personally, but I would think they are a better solution than the greaseable ones that Year One or Classic Industries sell. My dad was playing around with this problem and he feels that the single straight pin connecting the upper and lower portions of the hinge is a better design engineering wise than replacing it with what was already there. In theory, because the stock half-pins aren't connected, the upper and lower portions of the hinge are able to move separately, or are more prone to move separately. I haven't exactly done testing on this but it seems to make sense. Best way to check if your bushings are shot, open your door 3/4, grab it from the end and wiggle it up and down on the hinge. If there is slop and the door moves separately from the car, you need new bushings. If the whole car moves immediately and there is no slop, then you have alignment issues. Usually you can tell if the bushings are really gone because when you open the door, it seems to 'fall' open. |
